Sedgeford is wonderfully situated to discover the many delights of North West Norfolk. It is perfect for exploring the picturesque little villages that line the coast, and the lovely sandy beaches at Brancaster and Holme-next-the-Sea are only around five miles away. The village is well placed for ornithologists being halfway between the excellent reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham. For those looking for a more lively pace of life, Hunstanton is also only five miles away and there are many other attractions close by which are well worth a visit.

3 New England Cottages is tastefully furnished and offers good-sized accommodation on the outskirts of Sedgeford village. Formerly a railway worker's cottage, it is in a peaceful and rural location and yet only a short drive to the beaches of North and West Norfolk. Within walking distance of the property is a small sports club offering a gym, tennis and squash facilities which can be enjoyed on a book-and-pay-basis. Surrounded by quiet roads and countryside, it is in an ideal spot for walking, cycling and bird watching. Pink footed geese can often be seen from the upstairs windows in their season. The nature reserves of Titchwell only a few miles away also offer excellent bird-watching opportunities. Shop: 3 miles Pub: 0.5 miles

Sunnylea Cottage details

Sunnylea is a pretty limestone cottage, hidden away in a backwater, close to the centre of the typical 'White Peak' village of Great Longstone. Just four miles from the market town of Bakewell it is central to all the attractions of the Peak District.

There are countless opportunities for walking, cycling and climbing. Excursions might include Chatsworth, Haddon and Eyam Halls, the Castleton caverns and Buxton Opera House. The Monsal trail passes by less than half a mile from the village and numerous footpaths mean that you can walk from the door.

Local villages have fetes and flower festivals during the summer, and you will never be far away from tea and cake! When you return to Sunny Lea you might simply relax in the sunny south-west facing garden, or in the winter months in front of the open range.

Should you wish to eat out, the village has two pubs serving good food within a five minute walk. A 15 minute walk over the fields will take you to the Packhorse in Little Longstone, an unspoilt country pub, popular with walkers, which also serves good food.

The Manger details

The Manger was once a stable. Its original stalls, hay rack, troughs and loft have been retained and the necessary modern additions to create a luxury holiday cottage have been gently inserted. The loft stair allows an open aspect through to the apex of the roof. There are lime-washed walls and gentle lighting. The terrace offers uninterrupted views down to the river and stretching several miles along and across the spectacular Yarty River valley with its pattern of small irregular fields and copses.

Enveloped by accessible woodlands, apple orchards and farm fields, The Manger lies at the end of a long,shared drive, amidst hedge-lined winding lanes. Badgers, deer,rabbits, (40 species of moth were counted on a June evening) and various birds of prey are commonly seen. A weir pool with a salmon ladder lies along one of the many footpaths nearby and a bluebell wood is a short walk away. Within five miles there are three superb local family run farm shops, the River Cottage Canteen, and a choice of nearby pubs renowned for good food and beer.
