Hornsea Mere, a site of special scientific interest (believed to be the largest freshwater lake in Yorkshire) offers sailing, fishing and bird watching along with cafe and pitch and putt. You can also visit the stately homes of Sledmere House and Castle Howard which are nearby. You can also try your hand at fishing in the ponds on the farm.
