Accommodation overview: CHARMING COMPLEX OF PROPERTIES SITUATED ON THE EDGE OF THE PEAK DISTRICT NATIONAL PARK This quiet complex of 16 properties is located around a picturesque lake and 10 acres of woodland and have all been laid out so that the properties benefit from the communal areas nevertheless enjoying their own privacy. All properties have been finished to a good standard throughout and benefit from a spacious and well considered design. A visit to the Peak District is guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience containing Areas of Natural Outstanding Beauty from the rolling valleys of the White Peak to the harsher wilder grit stone edges of the Dark Peak in the north spread over nearly 600 square miles and dotted with an array of charming market towns and quaint villages maintaining traditional customs and values. Matlock is easily reached and is a must with its charming architecture and offers a wealth of restaurants individual shops and welcoming pubs. A short drive from the properties are Carsington Watersports Chatsworth House Gullivers Kingdom wonderful walking and cycling country scenic drives and the Blue John Mines to name but a few of the fantastic attractions within the Peak District. Outside: all guests are welcome to explore and enjoy the 10 acres of communal grounds and lakes with picnic benches spread throughout the site. Amenities: ample off-road parking on site. Orchard Cottage is a ground floor, terraced cottage set on the owner's equestrian farm in the hamlet of Edlaston, just three miles from Ashbourne on the edge of the Peak District National Park. The cottage has two bedrooms (one double and one adult bunk) and a sofa bed in the sitting room which with the addition of a family bathroom makes it suitable for up to six people. Also included in the cottage are a fitted kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with a wood burning stove. Pendleton Cottage is a lovely, detached one bedroom cottage ideally located on the edge of the Peak District National Park. This delightful, newly renovated property retains its original character, with beams and exposed stonework throughout.
The cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Alderwasley, in a peaceful and relatively undiscovered area just a few miles from Matlock. It makes a perfect base for walking in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and is surrounded by woods and valleys, with stunning views.
Dogs are welcome and there are beautiful walks right from the door. The owners have prepared detailed maps and directions for walks around the cottages, so you can find the prettiest footpaths and best views (and avoid cows and other hazards!)
The well known Bear Inn is less than half a mile away, and you can walk across the fields, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding hills and woodland.
The quirky, historic market town of Wirksworth is just two miles away, and has shops, pubs, a couple of very nice restaurants and several take-aways.
The area is rich in history and is within easy reach of the Derwent Valley Mills world heritage site, Matlock, Bakewell and Ashbourne, and the country houses of Chatsworth, Haddon and Hardwick.

You are situated only a mile from the Fosse Way, so a 40 minute drive will see you in Moreton-in-Marsh or Chipping Camden, in the heart of Cotswold country.
