The cottage is situated in the small and unspoilt farming village of Gillamoor, a village famous for breathtaking and stunning panoramic views of Douthwaite Dale and the moor beyond. It is an excellent base for walking and cycling within the North Yorkshire National Park with many walks starting from the doorstep.

The market town of Kirkbymoorside has a good selection of shops and is only a 2 mile drive or a 1.5 mile walk along a footpath.

Local attractions include many historic buildings including Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, Duncombe Park and Rievaulx Abbey. The market towns of Kirkbymoorside, Helmsley and Pickering, famous for its steam railway station, the historic town of York and the quaint fishing villages of Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay are all just an easy drive away. You are spoilt for choice for places to eat and drink with a wealth of cosy pubs and plenty of award-winning eateries in the vicinity including the Royal Oak in Gillamoor itself. For keen golfers Kirkbymoorside Golf Course is only a couple of miles away.

The original manor house was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1087. The accommodation ranges from the Old Hall sleeping up to 11 in period splendour, with its own imposing front lawns and side garden, through to the cosy Crow’s Nest for 2 persons, nestling in the courtyard with a patio overlooking the orchard. Yard End House is an attractive barn conversion offering spacious accommodation for up to 12, including a double bedroom on the ground floor and a private sauna, with the remaining cottages converted from the original stables. A cross country course takes guests who wish to bring their horses through woods and fields. The nearby beaches are also excellent for riding and dog walking.

Hindlethwaite Hall is a Grade II listed holiday retreat near Horsehouse in Yorkshire. This 16th century farmhouse occupies a very private and secluded setting within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with magnificent views over outstanding Coverdale countryside.

The Hall is approached down a half mile track through an open field, over a humpback bridge off the Middleham to Kettlewell Road to the north east of the village of Horsehouse.

This Yorkshire village has a church and a pub, The Thwaite Arms, which is only 500 yards via a footpath. Hindlethwaite Hall is in an ideal location for an outdoor break in Yorkshire with walks either from the door or in neighbouring Wharfedale and Wensleydale, nearby Malham and Swaledale.

Guests can also tour the Yorkshire Dales National Park with its splendid natural scenery, picturesque villages and market towns, castles and abbeys - all of which are within easy driving distance.
