The Elan Valley is part of the rugged Cambrian Mountains an unspoilt conservation area made more compelling by dams rivers and reservoirs. Keen anglers can enjoy the abundance of wild brown trout and grayling The Elan Valley Trail is a hidden gem with surfaced paths following the route of the old railway line; ideal for walkers and cyclists with cycle hire available at the Elan Valley Visitors Centre within 1 mile of the property. Further afield is Rhayader said to be the oldest town in mid Wales and home to the Red Kite feeding station or visit Powys Castle a medieval fortress perched high on a rock above its world-famous garden terraces.
