It lies mid way between Caldbeck in the Northern fells and Ullswater in the Eastern Lakes, probably one of the most peaceful areas of Cumbria. It is ideal for cycling, with miles of country lanes and hardly any traffic and plenty of walks in the forest, or on the nearby fells.
