Vanguard (with accommodation for 5 guests) is one of two holiday cottages available at the lighthouse, which lies on the East Coast just outside Whitby and close to the North Yorkshire Moors.
Access roads to some of the lighthouse sites are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.
Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.

It has recently been renovated to a very high standard whilst retaining its beams and original features. It is warm and cosy and has been designer decorated and furnished - not from a car boot sale! It sits opposite the railway line and has excellent views of Whitby Abbey and the harbour. Accommodation overview: Beckside Cottage is one of a group of pretty fishermens cottages positioned several metres back from the slow flowing tidal beck, right on the harbour side in the charming seaside village of Staithes. The beck still provides mooring to several Cobles (local name for the regions fishing boats) in a web of ropes and buoys. It has uninterrupted sea views of the bay and out to sea and is surrounded by high craggy cliffs at the side and rear of the property.
