Accommodation overview: This traditional stone built cottage dates back to the mid 1800's and was originally the Post Office for the village. Set back off the main road, the cottage is in the heart of the small village from where visitors can enjoy peaceful walks surrounded by unspoilt scenery. There is an abundance of birds and wildlife in the area which has a beautiful coastline with safe sandy beaches and coves. Picturesque Gruinard Bay nearby is popular with artists and photographers. The road south passes through magnificent scenery to the famous Inverewe Gardens (9 miles) and on to Gairloch which offers boat trips, sailing, golf and a fascinating Heritage Museum. A trip eastwards could take you to Ullapool for the day. Laide itself is a haven of peace and tranquillity for a relaxing break.

Accommodation overview: Alder Cottage is a delightful single storey cottage set in its own private garden grounds amidst stunning scenery just 5 miles from the Isle of Skye. Alder Cottage is situated in a quiet no-through road that meanders through the hills, over a small bridge with tumbling burn and onto Avernish, the historic site of a clearance village; there are superb walks direct from the cottage. Port Henderson is a scattered crofting community spread along a quiet single-track road leading to the magnificent golden beaches at Red Point. 2 miles along the road, the picturesque hamlet of Badachro has a little harbour and an excellent inn and the fishing port of Gairloch is 7 miles away with shops, restaurants, museum and links golf course. Within easy reach are Inverewe Gardens, Beinn Eighe Nature reserve and the Torridon mountains, popular with walkers and climbers.
