Take in the view of ancient Chanctonbury Ring from the cottage and enjoy the circle walk encompassing the ring with extensive views towards the coast and a lunch at the local pub. With a host of downland villages and beauty spots that can be reached including Steyning Ditchling Beacon and Devils Dyke to the east and Storrington. For nature lovers the Wildfowl and Wetlands Reserves at Arundel and Pulborough make for a great day out. Arundel has antique shops castle and a river where boat hire is available and for seaside fun you can visit Worthing 7 miles. Foodies will love the local farm shops markets restaurants. This unique accommodation offers ONE double bedroom and a dressing/cot room. Bathroom: roll-top bath with hand held shower attachment and WC. Lounge/diner: with TV Freeview and inglenook fireplace with woodburner (first basket of logs included). Densford Cottage is a terraced cottage situated in the picturesque conservation village of Amberley, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful villages in England. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the foot of the South Downs, it lies within the newly created South Downs National Park.
The village has wonderful views of the Amberley Wildbrooks nature reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest on the flood plain of the River Arun, where cattle graze amongst the migrating birds.Amberley has many historic buildings and thatched cottages and it is just a three minute walk to the 900 year old church which adjoins the 11th century Amberley Castle which is now a renowned hotel set in stunning grounds with superb dining (booking is advised). The village also has a tearoom (seasonal), a pottery and local shop with a post office.There are two local pubs within a three minute drive.
Just outside the village is the Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre. It is a 36 acre open air site dedicated to the industrial heritage of the South East and has a restaurant. Parham Park is a two mile drive from Amberley. This 16th century manor house has lovely gardens and is surrounded by over 800 acres of woods and deer parkland. It is open to the public during the spring and summer months and there is a public footpath through the park.
The historic town of Arundel is just a 10 minute drive. Arundel Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and has an attractive Italianate Garden. There are many antique shops, cafes and restaurants, a Wildlife and Wetland Centre and there are boat trips along the River Arun. The cathedral city of Chichester is also nearby and the Festival Theatre and Pallant Art Gallery are close to the centre. Goodwood, with its racecourse and motoring events, is also within easy access.
The Blue Flag sandy beach at West Wittering is a 20 minute drive and offers wonderful views of Chichester harbour. Sailing enthusiasts can hire boats around the harbour. A railway station serves the village of Amberley from which it is a 10 minute walk to the cottage. There are good train services from London Victoria.
Guest Note: The pond in the garden is unfenced and there is also a drop behind the wall at the end of the garden - small children must be supervised.
