Once two cottages, this spacious property now has two kitchen/diners, and two sitting rooms each with an open fire, and the two wings are connected by a large dining room to seat twenty two. Outside is a lawned garden with patio, BBQ and sandpit, and a games room with pool table, table tennis and table football. There is also ample off road parking. From the garden you can even catch the ferry across the river to the pubs on the other side! This rambling and old fashioned property, has plenty of room for the whole family, with all rooms well furnished and well equipped it has everything you require for your holiday. Warm and welcoming throughout the year, this is a real country hideaway, approached via tiny lane and gives you all a chance to completely recharge the batteries. Needless to say there are spectacular walks by the river and high cliffs of the Wye starting from your doorstep or you can simply relax and enjoy river life from your own private garden. We see this as an excellent choice for families or small groups given its completely unique location Please note: Parents, please take note that the house and its garden is adjacent to a fast flowing river and that there is no fence. Parents with young, mobile children should be aware of this. The Grade II listed Hop Kiln adjoins Great Catley in a stunning rural setting with wildlife, footpaths and cycle routes surrounding it and the Malvern Hills in the distance. The property, which dates back to the 16th century, was once a working hop and cider farm but now comprises luxurious living within a traditional stone and oak structure with many old features that were used at that time for hop making.
It is situated in the hamlet of Catley, a mile from the village of Bosbury and only 20 minutes from the M50. Two local pubs are within a mile and a half, the Bell at Bosbury and the Oak at Staplow. Both serve local ales, excellent food and take-outs. The area is a perfect retreat for exploring the beautiful Herefordshire countryside.
The old town of Ledbury has its traditional black and white buildings but within them are a very eclectic range of independent shops and restaurants. Close by are Eastnor Castle, the Three Choirs Vineyard and Westons Cider Mill. The cities of Hereford and Worcester are an equidistant 15 miles. Both have beautiful cathedrals and riverside settings. Hereford has the famous Mappa Mundi and Worcester its cricket ground and racecourse.
The Malvern Hills are just 20 minutes away together with its spa town and theatre. Ludlow, Hay-on-Wye, Gloucester and Cheltenham are all less than an hour away with their own renowned festivals.
