2 The Oaks is a beautiful 19th century semi-detached sandstone cottage, situated in a very quiet rural location between Hereford and Ross-on-Wye, both seven miles away. The cottage is a mile from the village of Hoarwithy which has a brilliant local pub (the New Harp Inn) situated next to the River Wye, which serves excellent food and local beers and also houses a small convenience shop.
This is a wonderful walking location with direct access to footpaths from the garden. Cycling can also be enjoyed by following the many bridleways and tracks in the area.
Monmouth lies 15 miles to the south with its wonderful castles, and white water canoeing is just 10 miles away at Symonds Yat. The Forest Of Dean is around 20 miles away, and has many attractions including cycling, mountain biking, walking, a steam railway, Hopewell Colliery Museum and Go-Ape. Just over the border the Brecon Beacons await. To the North West (50 minutes' drive) is the border town of Hay-on-Wye, famous for its Literature and Arts festival.

Accommodation overview: The Old Bakehouse, is a self contained cottage that sits in the west wing of Wythall House. As the name suggests, the property was once the bakery for this beautiful 16th Century Manor, a house steeped in history and quite simply a stunning location. It sits within the Wye Valley countryside with large secluded grounds surrounding (including the family of ducks and chickens that roam freely!) with tranquility the order of the day! Internally the property comprises comfortable accommodation with two good sized bedrooms upstairs. The home retains all the character features that you would expect of a listed building namely beams, the original lead windows, and exposed walls. Set in the heart of the Wye Valley countryside, the 'cottage' is an ideal base from which to explore the area, including the market town of Ross on Wye. We see this as an excellent value for money holiday cottage with all basic amenities included. It enjoys a rural holiday location which offers country walks with stunning unspoilt views, indigenous wildlife and carp fishing exclusive to the cottage on a peaceful idyllically situated lake.
Docklow village is within easy walking distance and it is here that you will find the village pub, the Kings Head, which offers good hospitality, real ales, and simple meals. Docklow Pools are also located within the village which offer excellent fishing, together with their own pub and restaurant.
There is easy access to attractions such as stately homes, parks and gardens as well as the historic cathedral city of Hereford and ancient market towns Ledbury and Ludlow, the latter of nationwide fame for its many high quality restaurants. The nearest town, Leominster (BR Station) 10 minutes away, offers excellent shopping facilities and Worcester (M5) can be reached in 30 minutes. The area offers fantastic walking, cycling, fishing, and horse riding facilities. Hampton Wafre Cottage comes with fishing in its own idyllic location - please bring your own fishing tackle.
The cottage is some 135 miles from London, 58 miles from Birmingham, 158 miles from Manchester, and 54 miles from Cardiff. It will take you approximately two hours 40 minutes from London by road. Train stations are located at Worcester, Hereford and Leominster. Leominster train station is some seven minutes by road.
