Accommodation overview: Quietly situated cottage a few minutes walk from the beach. Much of the Seaside resort of Felixstowe is only about 100 years old. This busy town standing at the mouth of the rivers Deben and Orwell, benefits from a four mile stretch of a sand and shingle beach a two mile paved promenade dotted with colourful beach huts and beautifully kept seafront gardens. Other than enjoying the sea views from any well placed seats along the prom, visitors can enjoy activities such as coastal walks, sailing, fishing, golf or bird watching to name but a few. There are Martello Towers along this stretch of coastline, built to resist a potential invasion by Napoleon. The main town of Felixstowe offers the visitor a good selections of shops, restaurants, seafront bars, seaside attractions, cinema, leisure centre with swimming pool, Tourist Information, Spa Theatre and a viewing point where many of the world's largest container ships arrive at the busy Port of Felixstowe. Accommodation overview: Aldeburgh and the surrounding area has inspired many authors and poets in the past but the most famous son of the town is Benjamin Britten, who founded the Aldeburgh Music Festival, which now has worldwide acclaim and is held every year in June at Snape Maltings. Fishermen still pull their colourful boats up on the shingle beach and sell fresh fish from the picturesque huts. The wide, mainly Georgian high street has many attractive buildings whilst the seafront properties all have commanding views of the beach and the North Sea. Boating is popular on the nearby Alde estuary where a large variety of yachts can be seen at summer weekends. Westleton is a pretty village midway between Aldeburgh and Southwold, with the coast at Dunwich only two and a half miles away. Centred around a large green, Westleton is one of the most popular places to stay on the Heritage Coast. It is an ideal base for the beach or for Minsmere, as well as the coastal heaths and forests.
