Accommodation overview: Ferryside, Symonds Yat is a great family holiday cottage. Literally perched overlooking the Rive Wye, it enjoys an unbelievable position and location. From the garden you can even catch the ferry across the river to the pubs on the other side! This rambling and old fashioned property, has plenty of room for the whole family, with all rooms well furnished and well equipped it has everything you require for your holiday. Warm and welcoming throughout the year, this is a real country hideaway, approached via tiny lane and gives you all a chance to completely recharge the batteries. Needless to say there are spectacular walks by the river and high cliffs of the Wye starting from your doorstep or you can simply relax and enjoy river life from your own private garden. We see this as an excellent choice for families or small groups given its completely unique location Please note: Parents, please take note that the house and its garden is adjacent to a fast flowing river and that there is no fence. Parents with young, mobile children should be aware of this. It has been sympathetically restored to offer accommodation for 4 people, retaining much of its original character through features such as exposed beams and the original cattle stall, which now partitions the lounge from the dining room. The accommodation is arranged across one level and the property has a rear patio, from which to enjoy a spot of outdoor-dining. Accommodation overview: Somerford Cottage is a quintessential English country cottage set in the heart of a beautiful and classic Cotswold village, itself located in the southern Cotswolds. The property, which has a history dating back hundreds of years, was once part of the village's Manor House, offers lovely large rooms throughout, all presented in an attractive and stylish fashion, with careful attention given to mixing contemporary furniture with traditional cottage features. Of particular appeal is the spacious living area, which is light, airy and inviting. As one would expect with a property of such history there are delightful, mature gardens, which customers can enjoy (see below*), in fact the owners are able to offer seasonal 'home grown produce' to customers - wonderful!! LOCATIONGreat Somerford (part of 'The Somerfords) is a traditional village situated in the southern Cotswolds, deep in the heart of Wiltshire's Clay Vale, sandwiched between the limestone belt of the Cotswolds and the chalklands of the Malborough Downs. Amongst a few 'claims to fame' is the fact that the village is believed to have the country's oldest allotment with notes of a private growing dating back to 1809! Nearby is the market town of Malmesbury, which has a beautiful church, with Tetbury. 15 mins drive, an antique collectors heaven a little further away. Westonbirt Arboretum, with its amazing walks and forests is within 2o minutes drive. Bath, in particular, is a convenient drive away as are a wide variety of Cotswold attractions and attractive villages.
