Accommodation overview: Kingfishers House is a brilliant holiday cottage for people who want to enjoy a central Cotswolds location as well as the stunning location of the Cotswolds' lakes. Situated within the Cotswolds' 450 acre Lower Mill Estate nature reserve and just a two minute stroll from the River Thames tributary, the property offers accommodation ideal for families with youngsters but also perfect for couples looking to relax. Internally, the cottage is welcoming and well furnished with your own grassed area outside, perfect for sitting / playing with small and shallow stream and lake beyond. The Lower Mill is particularly appealing as there are many activities on offer including an outdoor heated swimming pool, tennis court and walking as well as countless other activities nearby. In our opinion Kingfishers House is perfect for those who like space, peace and much to do to do outside the traditional holiday times. Superb! The Farriers is a sunny Cotswold stone cottage situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Southrop.
The village is criss-crossed with footpaths, some of which lead to the River Leach, and others to the neighbouring villages of Eastleach and Hatherop. The church in Southrop dates back to 1086 and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
The famous gastropub the Swan is within a few minutes' stroll of the cottage and reservations are advised. There is a Wednesday Shop and Post Office held in the Village Hall selling supplies from Sainsburys, and the Southrop Estate also has a shop selling a selection of kitchen/dining goods and household accessories.
Southrop Manor also offers cooking classes which are held in the Tithe Barn and can be booked direct with them in advance of your stay.
High speed trains to London Paddington are available from Swindon (12 miles) or Charlbury (17 miles).
Southrop is two miles from the A361 Burford-to-Lechlade road.

Broad Campden is an extremely attractive small village which has many thatched cottages, a charming church, the oldest Friends Meeting House in the country (17th Century) and the 'Bakers Arms' pub, offering real ale and excellent food in both bar and restaurant.

Rose Cottage is an extremely comfortable Grade II listed 18th century mid-terrace thatched Cotswold stone cottage. This self catering accommodation has been refurbished with style during 2011.
Ebrington is one of the most exquisite villages in the North Cotswolds. It is peaceful, with unspoilt charm, a few miles from Chipping Campden and the famous gardens at Hidcote and Kiftsgate. The village inn serves delightful food and is CAMRA's North Cotswold pub of the year. The Ebrington Arms, only a two-minute walk away, is open Tuesday to Saturday 12pm to 3pm and then 6pm to 11pm and Sundays 12pm to 6pm. Rose Cottage is ideally located for visiting Stratford upon Avon, Warwick and Oxford.
Places to visit within the area include:

Bourton on the Water: a beautiful Cotswold village, with its own bird sanctuary, miniature model village, trout farm and perfumery.
Broadway Tower and Country Club: situated just outside Broadway. The folly was built by the Earl of Coventry and the grounds hold an adventure playground, a collection of rare animals and a restaurant which is housed in a converted Cotswold barn.
Dovers Hill: owned by the National Trust, this has a superb view from which the Black Mountains in Wales can be seen on a clear day.
Hidcote Manor: the finest gardens in the country are to be found just four miles outside Chipping Campden. Hidcote is owned by the National Trust. 01386 438333
Kifsgate Gardens: situated next to Hidcote Manor and reputed to be one of its main rivals.
Snowshill Lavender Farm: situated in the Cotswold Hills overlooking Broadway and the Vale of Evesham. Started growing Lavender in 2000, and now has 35 different varieties stretching over 53 acres. Gift shop and tearoom serving lavender scones 01386 854821.

It is a 'listed' historic building, completely restored to provide wonderfully unique holiday cottage accommodation. There are many period features within the property, including beams and period furniture. Outside are the gigantic mill wheel and millpond - a haven for wild life.
