It is also one of the termini of the famous Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Steam Railway, which runs parallel to the coastline through Dymchurch and New Romney to Dungeness. Joan's Cottage is just up above the famous 11th century Parish Church - and close to the town centre and beach. The Royal Military canal is nearby where the banks provide many delightful walks through the lovely countryside and for a slightly different day out, France is only 35minutes away via Eurotunnel from nearby Folkestone. Accommodation overview: Ellerslie Cottage is an annexe to imposing Ellerslie House that sits in spectacular parkland grounds, incorporating a swimming pool, tennis court, playground, a maze, an orchard and sweeping lawns down to a lake. Four friendly Alpacas live by the lake too - firm favourites with everyone! It is situated mid-way between Cranbrook and Hawkhurst - Cranbrook has some superb specialist shops, pubs and restaurants and Hawkhurst has a great independent cinema, so there is much to enjoy right on your doorstep. The nearby gardens at Sissinghurst and Pashley Manor are well worth a visit and the seaside is an easy drive. Trains for London (1hr) from Staplehurst 8 miles.
