Accommodation overview: Hythe has a wide promenade overlooking a long stretch of beach over the English channel to France. It is also one of the termini of the famous Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Steam Railway, which runs parallel to the coastline through Dymchurch and New Romney to Dungeness. Joan's Cottage is just up above the famous 11th century Parish Church - and close to the town centre and beach. The Royal Military canal is nearby where the banks provide many delightful walks through the lovely countryside and for a slightly different day out, France is only 35minutes away via Eurotunnel from nearby Folkestone. Accommodation overview: Seaside House is a terraced town house in a quiet cul-de-sac near the sloping path which leads down to the Blue Flag awarded sandy beach - a few metres from delightful Botany Bay with its expanse of golden sands and towering white cliffs that are popular with nesting seabirds. Canterbury, Sandwich, Whitstable and Herne Bay are all within a short drive whilst Dover is just 22 miles away offering the chance of a pleasant day trip to France. There are two golf courses within 2 miles of the property and the Viking Coastal Trail runs along the cliff path near the house for impressive walks and cycle rides. Accommodation overview: Ellerslie Cottage is an annexe to imposing Ellerslie House that sits in spectacular parkland grounds, incorporating a swimming pool, tennis court, playground, a maze, an orchard and sweeping lawns down to a lake. Four friendly Alpacas live by the lake too - firm favourites with everyone! It is situated mid-way between Cranbrook and Hawkhurst - Cranbrook has some superb specialist shops, pubs and restaurants and Hawkhurst has a great independent cinema, so there is much to enjoy right on your doorstep. The nearby gardens at Sissinghurst and Pashley Manor are well worth a visit and the seaside is an easy drive. Trains for London (1hr) from Staplehurst 8 miles. Notes: Swimming pool and tennis courts available on request. Children must be supervised when in the play area and in the main grounds due to the deep, un-fenced ponds and lake. The owners have a friendly dog and two cats in the main house. Due to the steepish stairs the property is not suitable for those with mobility problems or small children/babies.

Hillside is a Victorian holiday cottage set on a quiet lane within the conservation area, overlooking Hythe to the English Channel and on a clear day, the French coast. The Cinque Port of Hythe has changed little over the years, with its narrow streets and passageways complemented by historic buildings and public gardens.
The luxury self-catering cottage is within a short stroll of Hythe's attractions: the local shops which provide a pleasant mix of traditional green grocers, bakery and butchers, intermingled with restaurants, wine bars and antique shops; the Royal Military Canal which offers holiday guests the chance to hire a rowing boat or try your hand at fishing; the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, where one can take a trip on the world's smallest public steam railway across Kent's famous Romney Marsh to Dungeness.
Hythe's beach, where fishing boats are pulled up between trips, is a pleasant 12-minute walk from the holiday property via the Royal Military Canal and "Ladies Walk" gardens. One can walk and cycle along the promenade or simply sit on the beach and watch the more energetic windsurfing and sailing.
Other nearby Kent attractions are Brockhill Country Park with 54 acres of lakes and woodland walks (10 minutes), Port Lympne Animal Park (20 minutes), Dover Castle, the Cinque Port of Rye and the historic city of Canterbury.
For the more adventurous the Channel Tunnel allows easy access to the French coast, and day trips by car to the attractive towns of Boulogne, Montreuil and Le Touquet. Sandling mainline railway station (five minutes' drive from the property) provides access to London (journey time one hour 26 minutes).
