Accommodation overview: Orrest Head Cottage is a detached house located in the grounds of Orrest Head House just above Windermere Village. The house is surrounded by National Trust Fields and looks out over a delightful vegetable garden to lake Windermere beyond. For the keen walkers (or even an after dinner stroller) the house backs straight onto the path through Common Woods and up to Orrest Head, one of the finest short walks in the Lake District (according to Alfred Wainwright). Even though the house is in such a rural location it is within a couple of minutes stroll into Windermere Village, with all the restaurants, bars youd expect and of course Booths Supermarket.

Accommodation overview: Dougals Den sits in a quiet backwater of Windermere, just off the centre of this now rather cosmopolitan town which has been recently pedestrianised to create uniquely paved walkways lined with interesting shops, cafes and bars dotted with discreet lighting, the streets quite a spectacular site in the evenings. Some wonderful and rewarding walks can be enjoyed straight from the door, the views from nearby Orrest Head are certainly worth the hike.

Accommodation overview: These cottages, one a Victorian double fronted detached house and the other the converted stables sit in the very heart of Windermere are tucked away behind the main thoroughfare and accessed by a narrow lane opening out into a small courtyard. Nowadays, the horse and carriages have been exchanged for holidaymakers and the ancient buildings have been successfully converted to provide two most interesting cottages with all the desired 21st century facilities that we are so used to but wonderfully married with an Art Nouveau retro theme throughout, perfectly in keeping with the buildings historic past.

Accommodation overview: Only seconds walk from a host of restaurants, shops, bars and even the train station, Littlecroft is in an ideal location, in a relatively level area of the village and is therefore suitable for guests of all ages. Lakeland, the now world famous kitchenware store, is a favourite haunt of locals and visitors alike and is only minutes away from the cottage, as is a cycle hire shop for those more energetic amongst you - Littlecroft has a bike store to secure these or why not bring your own? This area of Lakeland has some fabulous cycle routes, including Grizedale Forest, reached via the car ferry at Bowness one of the best in the North of England.
