St Catherine's Lighthouse is situated just outside the hamlet of Niton, approximately 10 minutes' drive from the popular coastal resort of Ventnor, the southern most point of the Isle of Wight. The site comprises a terrace of three self-catering holiday rentals, former lighthouse keepers cottages, Landward Cottage, Gurnard and Penda. There are guided tours of the lighthouse throughout the year (subject to availability). The Lighthouse grounds are enclosed with a wall but young children should be supervised at all times. There is an excellent real ale pub a 10-minute walk up the hill. Each holiday cottage has a private enclosed courtyard and parking area. Beyond the courtyard there is a communal grass area where children can play. Guests can unload in the parking area adjacent to Penda Cottage.
The lighthouse does not have a fog signal.
Access roads to some of the lighthouse sites are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.
Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.

With superb views over Newtown Creek and the Solent in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Myrtle Cottage is a beautifully presented and refurbished cottage, standing as one of a pair with its own enclosed garden.
Newtown was established in the 13th century as a centre of trade and shipping, and the capital of the Isle of Wight, and subsequently become a 'rotten borough'. Its medieval town hall is of archaeological importance. There is lots to do around this wonderful part of the Isle of Wight. Yarmouth is a lovely historic sailing town, with a square with pubs and restaurants serving great food.
There are many scenic walks around the Newtown Creek, which has a bird hide to observe the area's wildfowl and other wildlife.
There are many bays, coves, beaches and picturesque villages with tearooms as well as tourist attractions including The Needles Park (with chairlifts, boat rides, coloured sands, lighthouse, amusements and glassmaking). Also within easy driving distance are Chesil Pottery, Calbourne Water Mill, Tennyson Down with its spectacular views, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House and Cowes Harbour. The nearest sandy beach is a 10-15 minute drive from the cottage and the nearest pub is the New Inn at Shalfleet, about 1.5 miles away (known to be one of the best pubs on the island).
