This cottage has a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, a second double bedroom and a twin bedroom, accessed via the second double, a ground floor wet room, a fitted kitchen with dining area, a sitting room with gas fire and a reading room with a double sofa bed. Outside there is off road parking for two cars and a front, lawned garden with patio and furniture. Draenllwynellen is a beautifully refurbished detached farmhouse in an elevated position enjoying breath-taking unspoilt views across the valley towards the Kerry Ridgeway and Shropshire Hills but within 2 miles of the ancient Welsh border town of Montgomery, with its twice weekly market. This traditional property dates back in parts to the early 1800’s and boasts original beams and oak staircase, a bespoke kitchen with range cooker, and large family lounge with wood burning stove Set in its own acre of land with orchard and ornamental garden and rustic outbuildings, guests will enjoy the spectacular scenery and peace and quiet of this beautiful rural hideaway.

There are footpaths and byways directly from the house and quiet country lanes for walking or cycling as well as Offa’s Dyke path (3 miles) and hill walking and nature reserves at Roundton and Corndon Hills near Church Stoke, some 4 miles distant as well as the Long Mynd, a scenic 40 minute drive away.

Montgomery town boasts a ruined 13th century castle (free entry and a perfect place for a picnic with spectacular views!); the Old Bell Museum of local history; two excellent tea rooms with delis; pub and Dragon Hotel bar; The Chequers Michelin starred restaurant and small supermarket (stocking local produce) with ATM; organic and homemade produce available at the Thursday and Saturday morning markets. Take a look at the ‘Taste Montgomery’ website for details of Tasting Trails in and around the area, sampling many of the delights of local produce. Other local attractions include Glansevern Hall Gardens and renowned Potting Shed Cafe, Gregynog Gardens and cafe, Powis Castle (NT) and Kerry Vale’s very own vineyard with tastings and vineyard tours.

Rail stations are at Welshpool and Newtown, (20 minutes away in either direction) where there are a range of shops including major supermarkets. Regular bus services to Shrewsbury, Welshpool and Newtown run from Montgomery, and further afield are the historic market towns of Bishop’s Castle, Ludlow (45 minutes) and Shrewsbury (45 minutes) each with an array of independent retailers and great selection of restaurants. Tennis (Montgomery) and 9 hole golf course (Welshpool).

With superb views over Newtown Creek and the Solent in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Myrtle Cottage is a beautifully presented and refurbished cottage, standing as one of a pair with its own enclosed garden.

Newtown was established in the 13th century as a centre of trade and shipping, and the capital of the Isle of Wight, and subsequently become a 'rotten borough'. Its medieval town hall is of archaeological importance. There is lots to do around this wonderful part of the Isle of Wight. Yarmouth is a lovely historic sailing town, with a square with pubs and restaurants serving great food.

There are many scenic walks around the Newtown Creek, which has a bird hide to observe the area's wildfowl and other wildlife.

There are many bays, coves, beaches and picturesque villages with tearooms as well as tourist attractions including The Needles Park (with chairlifts, boat rides, coloured sands, lighthouse, amusements and glassmaking). Also within easy driving distance are Chesil Pottery, Calbourne Water Mill, Tennyson Down with its spectacular views, Carisbrooke Castle, Osborne House and Cowes Harbour. The nearest sandy beach is a 10-15 minute drive from the cottage and the nearest pub is the New Inn at Shalfleet, about 1.5 miles away (known to be one of the best pubs on the island).
