Accommodation overview: Footstool Cottage is a pleasant yet classic Cotswold stone property with early 17th Century origins. The internal features include exposed timbers throughout, together with a woodburner in the dining room. All the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with some low ceilings!! There is a charming and secluded garden at the rear of the cottage, a perfect 'sun trap' for summer days! Footstool Cottage is a cosy retreat situated in the village of Fulbrook which lies about half a mile to the north east of the bustling market town of Burford. Accommodation overview: The Lodge at Holycombe is a unique Cotswold holiday cottage set on the edge of the beautiful village of Whichford. Nestling amongst six acres of land, the property is an ideal retreat away from the stresses of hectic life in the city! Holycombe itself is set in a wooded valley where a natural stream rises from a holy well in the nearby wood, passes though the grounds and down a waterfall. (The sound of running water adds to the sense of peace and tranquillity.) A coppice provides shady outdoor space; there's a campfire area and a large stone circle on the castle site. Across a meadow is the ancient Whichford wood with many rare species of trees and plants, an abundance of wood anemones, primroses and bluebells in spring; chestnuts, blackberries and sloes in autumn. Wildlife abounds: everything from Muntjack to polecats and kingfishers. Set in six acres, Holycombe is built in the grounds of a Norman Castle, and has a water-filled moat, habitat for carp and dragonflies. Sally and Andy Birtwell rescued the site from 40 years of being a scrap yard, dedicating 6 years of their life to the restoration. They have built a beautiful house and garden to honour the sacred landscape. Archaeologists have excavated a Roman conduit carrying water from the springs in the wood to the site and dowsers and geomancers have suggested it was a sacred site before Roman the occupation. They also believe that six leylines converge on the stone circle.

The detached annexe features an L-shaped triple bunk room (suitable for 2 people) with an en-suite shower room. Outside is off road parking for two cars and a enclosed patio garden with furniture. The Old Nick is a unique cottage with cycle rides to enjoy on the nearby Manifold Cycle Trail, making it an ideal base for a family holiday to the Peak District.

The cottage is a very good size for four people, but has the advantage of an extra bed if a fifth person wishes to travel*. The living room is particularly attractive with great views across the well tended (but of course!) allotments and fields beyond. The cottage also has two bathrooms which also make it suitable for two couples just as much for a family. Accommodation overview: Lane Farm House in Shipton under Wychwood is a very large house set in the midst of the lovely village of Shipton under Wychwood. A 14th Century rambling farmhouse, with accommodation for 16 people, with potential space for more if required. Internally the property is presented in a traditional and basic style with large living space ideal for party get-togethers. The property is clean and welcoming and is certainly very good value for money given the size of the accommodation. There is the ability to take additional beds within the bedrooms (to exceed 16 people) and all bedrooms can be single beds or double, although we would like to add that the seating and dining seating will be tight! The enormous main kitchen has granite tops, an Aga and large dining table. Nice and bright sitting room with a wood burning stove, (logs available), lots of bedrooms each very individual, and 'Eagles Nest' at the top of the house.
