Accommodation overview: Old School Cottages are a set of superb holiday cottages set within the lovely Cotswold village of Lyneham. Forming part of a building that once was the local school, the cottages collectively offer characterful accommodation for up to 12 guests but all in individual properties. (This means you can get together, but still enjoy peace when you wish to escape the group!) Nearby there is a good golf course with welcoming Pub (see * below for further details). Outside, there are sitting areas and lovely views across the countryside and village. A truly wonderful part of the Cotswolds! The property, which is Seventeenth Century and Grade II listed, has a history that describes it as once belonging to the 'Village Alehouse Keeper'! Today it is has a very welcoming feel with many period features including a large and beautiful inglenook fireplace which is simply gorgeous and oak beams - all very romantic! The cottage is well equipped and also enjoys a very large garden overlooking fields beyond. Even though the property is ideal for two people, there is a second bedroom with a potential two extra beds* which would be suitable for one or two children - there is plenty of seating downstairs. Accommodation overview: Tew Cottage is probably what we all imagine when thinking of a classic Cotswold cottage - a gorgeous building under a thatched roof with period features everywhere: large open fire, beams, flagstone floor and a magnificent 2 acre garden all within a short stroll of a (world renowned) village and pub. It doesn't get much better than this. The cottage, which dates back over 250 years, and is owned by one of the world's leading photographers is presented in a traditional and period style that sits perfectly in this location. There is an open plan living space, very much the heart of the home, with accommodation split across three floors. It is, in our opinion, just as suitable for families as it is for a groups of friends who want to sample one of England's finest locations. Outside there is a large rolling garden with swings and two lakes (which the owners regularly swim in!!) plus a separate thatched building used as playroom. Direct from the cottage there is also a private seating area which is a perfect sun trap.
