Accommodation overview: Lane Farm House in Shipton under Wychwood is a very large house set in the midst of the lovely village of Shipton under Wychwood. A 14th Century rambling farmhouse, with accommodation for 16 people, with potential space for more if required. Internally the property is presented in a traditional and basic style with large living space ideal for party get-togethers. The property is clean and welcoming and is certainly very good value for money given the size of the accommodation. There is the ability to take additional beds within the bedrooms (to exceed 16 people) and all bedrooms can be single beds or double, although we would like to add that the seating and dining seating will be tight! The enormous main kitchen has granite tops, an Aga and large dining table. Nice and bright sitting room with a wood burning stove, (logs available), lots of bedrooms each very individual, and 'Eagles Nest' at the top of the house. Formerly a farm worker's cottage the cottage offers an excellent living space ideal for holidays. Accommodation overview: The Haven is a super single storey holiday cottage which has undergone renovation to create a welcoming property suitable for families wishing to enjoy a relaxing break. Originally part of a 14th Century farm, the cottage, which is semi detached, is light and spacious with far reaching views across the Cotswold countryside. Set within the conservation village of Shipton under Wychwood, there are great walks and country pubs, such as The Lamb close by. The property retains original beams and stone walls, and now has beech floors throughout along with mod cons such as a power shower, dishwasher and TV. Accommodation overview: The Hayloft is a superb barn conversion located on the edge of the very quiet hamlet of Lyneham. As the name suggests the barn was once the hayloft of this farm, but today has been converted to provide spacious accommodation for up to seven people. Internally the cottage has been renovated to a very high standard creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere which is ideal for families and small groups. As one would expect, the cottage retains many character features including exposed walls and beams! Located on a small and quiet lane, this holiday cottage, in our opinion, is an ideal family destination. The property, which is Seventeenth Century and Grade II listed, has a history that describes it as once belonging to the 'Village Alehouse Keeper'! Today it is has a very welcoming feel with many period features including a large and beautiful inglenook fireplace which is simply gorgeous and oak beams - all very romantic! The cottage is well equipped and also enjoys a very large garden overlooking fields beyond. Local InformationSomerton is delightful village steeped in history dating back hundreds of years with mentions in the Domesday Book and also links to William The Conqueror after the Battle of Hastings. The church in particular (a Grade One listed building) is relatively famous in local circles for its historical significance. Somerton is no more than 15 mins outside Woodstock, the very popular Oxfordshire market town and just 15 miles from the centre of Oxford. The village also enjoys superb travel links with Bicester train station (to London Marylebone) 10 mins drive away or Junction 10 of the M40 no more than 3 miles away. The village sits on the northern side of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with the River Cherwell and Oxford Canal both meandering through the edge of the village and just moments from this holiday cottage. The meadows at the river are absolutely perfect for evening 'sun-downers'. There are many walks to choose from, right from your door. The very famous and very popular Bicester Shopping Outlet Centre (or Bicester Village as it is called) is 10 mins away if shopping is your thing. There are a variety of good pubs in the locality, but none in the village. Of particular note is The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, one of the prettiest spots imaginable.
