Accommodation overview: Tall Trees Cottage, is a traditionally built stone holiday cottage situated in a elevated setting on the edge of Stow on the Wold with beautiful views of open countryside. Even though it is short walk from the centre of this very popular Cotswolds market town, the property enjoys a super view overlooking a 4 acre paddock with ponies and chickens. (You can actually get some free-range eggs if you wish in your welcome hamper on arrival.) The property offers modern accommodation over two floors, with two ensuite bedrooms on the lower level, which may appeal to those with limited mobility. Externally the cottage, which is attached to the owner's home, has an enclosed garden to the front, along with a private side courtyard. By being on the edge of Stow on the Wold, you benefit from the of peace of the countryside, while being only a few minutes walk from the many restaurants, shops and cafes available. It really is an ideal location for touring this picturesque part of the English heartland. Accommodation overview: Tew Cottage is probably what we all imagine when thinking of a classic Cotswold cottage - a gorgeous building under a thatched roof with period features everywhere: large open fire, beams, flagstone floor and a magnificent 2 acre garden all within a short stroll of a (world renowned) village and pub. It doesn't get much better than this. The cottage, which dates back over 250 years, and is owned by one of the world's leading photographers is presented in a traditional and period style that sits perfectly in this location. There is an open plan living space, very much the heart of the home, with accommodation split across three floors. It is, in our opinion, just as suitable for families as it is for a groups of friends who want to sample one of England's finest locations. Outside there is a large rolling garden with swings and two lakes (which the owners regularly swim in!!) plus a separate thatched building used as playroom. Direct from the cottage there is also a private seating area which is a perfect sun trap. Accommodation overview: The Lodge at Holycombe is a unique Cotswold holiday cottage set on the edge of the beautiful village of Whichford. Nestling amongst six acres of land, the property is an ideal retreat away from the stresses of hectic life in the city! Holycombe itself is set in a wooded valley where a natural stream rises from a holy well in the nearby wood, passes though the grounds and down a waterfall. (The sound of running water adds to the sense of peace and tranquillity.) A coppice provides shady outdoor space; there's a campfire area and a large stone circle on the castle site. Across a meadow is the ancient Whichford wood with many rare species of trees and plants, an abundance of wood anemones, primroses and bluebells in spring; chestnuts, blackberries and sloes in autumn. Wildlife abounds: everything from Muntjack to polecats and kingfishers. They have built a beautiful house and garden to honour the sacred landscape. Archaeologists have excavated a Roman conduit carrying water from the springs in the wood to the site and dowsers and geomancers have suggested it was a sacred site before Roman the occupation.
