Henley on Thames with its 5 arched bridge and historic buildings is worth a look and Blenheim Palace offers regular special events. Obviously, many of the Cotswodls favourite locations such as Burford and Stow on the Wold nearby too. Slightly further afield, are Oxford and Stratford upon Avon, both comfortably within half an hour drive!

Accommodation overview: The Haven is a super single storey holiday cottage which has undergone renovation to create a welcoming property suitable for families wishing to enjoy a relaxing break. Originally part of a 14th Century farm, the cottage, which is semi detached, is light and spacious with far reaching views across the Cotswold countryside. Set within the conservation village of Shipton under Wychwood, there are great walks and country pubs, such as The Lamb close by. The property retains original beams and stone walls, and now has beech floors throughout along with mod cons such as a power shower, dishwasher and TV. Wifi available.LocationKingham is a beautiful unspoilt Cotswold village with a large open green and some elegant stone and thatch cottages mostly dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is situated in the Evenlode valley in Oxfordshire and is a short drive from the more well known town of Chipping Norton. It is a thriving village with a good sense of community. As well as the pubs there is a good village store and an attractive church. The village is unique amongst Cotswold villages, because it is served by a main line railway station about a mile from the village, the mainline railway station provides regular services to London with services operated by First Great Western Link. Of particular note is the The Kingham Plough which is a quintessential Cotswold Inn and has an outstanding restaurant. According to AA Gill: "The kitchen is a serious restaurant workplace. The bar menu is as fine as any I've seen...anyone thinking of opening a local pub restaurant should come here and see the gold standard." (AA Gill writing in the Sunday Times). Otherwise nearby are Chipping Norton, Stow on the Wold and Burford, with Oxford, Stratford upon Avon and Bath all within a reasonable drive.
