Accommodation overview: Lane Farm House in Shipton under Wychwood is a very large house set in the midst of the lovely village of Shipton under Wychwood. A 14th Century rambling farmhouse, with accommodation for 16 people, with potential space for more if required. Internally the property is presented in a traditional and basic style with large living space ideal for party get-togethers. The property is clean and welcoming and is certainly very good value for money given the size of the accommodation. There is the ability to take additional beds within the bedrooms (to exceed 16 people) and all bedrooms can be single beds or double, although we would like to add that the seating and dining seating will be tight! The enormous main kitchen has granite tops, an Aga and large dining table. Nice and bright sitting room with a wood burning stove, (logs available), lots of bedrooms each very individual, and 'Eagles Nest' at the top of the house. Accommodation overview: The Haven is a super single storey holiday cottage which has undergone renovation to create a welcoming property suitable for families wishing to enjoy a relaxing break. Originally part of a 14th Century farm, the cottage, which is semi detached, is light and spacious with far reaching views across the Cotswold countryside. Set within the conservation village of Shipton under Wychwood, there are great walks and country pubs, such as The Lamb close by. Local InformationSomerton is delightful village steeped in history dating back hundreds of years with mentions in the Domesday Book and also links to William The Conqueror after the Battle of Hastings. The church in particular (a Grade One listed building) is relatively famous in local circles for its historical significance. Somerton is no more than 15 mins outside Woodstock, the very popular Oxfordshire market town and just 15 miles from the centre of Oxford. The village also enjoys superb travel links with Bicester train station (to London Marylebone) 10 mins drive away or Junction 10 of the M40 no more than 3 miles away. The village sits on the northern side of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with the River Cherwell and Oxford Canal both meandering through the edge of the village and just moments from this holiday cottage. The meadows at the river are absolutely perfect for evening 'sun-downers'. There are many walks to choose from, right from your door. The very famous and very popular Bicester Shopping Outlet Centre (or Bicester Village as it is called) is 10 mins away if shopping is your thing. There are a variety of good pubs in the locality, but none in the village. Of particular note is The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, one of the prettiest spots imaginable.

A beautiful and historic ferryman's cottage, the site of which is mentioned in Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat, which is situated directly on the banks of the River Thames, adjacent to the Oxford University Rowing Club.
This unique property, which sits on Edwardian brick arches, overlooks its own private riverside garden and pontoon. On the other side of the river is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a working dairy farm.
The house is on the southern edge of the town of Wallingford, just over an hour's drive from London, 15 minutes from Henley and 20 minutes from Oxford.
Until c.1950 the house was occupied by the Wallingford ferryman, who transported horses, people and freight across the river at the point where the River Thames tow path changed sides. The raised outhouse was the ticket booth associated with the ferry.
Wallingford is a pretty medieval market town situated along the banks of the River Thames. The centre of the town is a five minute walk along either the riverside or quiet roads, and has a picturesque town square with a 17th century arcaded town hall, a number of historic inns and restaurants, three ancient churches, the Corn Exchange theatre and cinema, a large Waitrose and a summer outdoor swimming pool. You can also enjoy the Cholsey and Wallingford Steam Railway, or a walk around the ruins of Wallingford Castle, once one of the largest in the country but largely destroyed by Oliver Cromwell.
There is a town museum and Agatha Christie's home and boathouse nearby. Midsomer Murders was filmed in the town. A bus service runs to Oxford and Reading and the stop is only a few minutes walk away.
You will find the house a restful and fun place, surrounded by the quiet of the Thames, with only its water wildlife for company.
