Locally there are a number of good restaurants, two convenience stores, a petrol station and a post office. Its geographical position makes it ideal for the exploration of mid and north Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire. The market towns of Oswestry and Welshpool are less than a 20-minute drive and the medieval town of Shrewsbury and walled city of Chester are less than 40 minutes away. Days out locally may include visiting three great NT properties, Powis Castle, Chirk Castle and Erddig, a day at Bangor-on-Dee or Chester races, a trip on a steam train or canal boat. A little further afield are Snowdon or the west Wales coastline with its fabulous sandy beaches. Walking, horseriding, clay pigeon shooting and golf available locally, and Bryn Tanat has rights to 1 mile of fishing on the River Tanat from its riverside lawn and woodland.
At cost by prior arrangement, Bryn Tanat offers fine dining with full chef and maid service. For a romantic evening dine and dance in the elegant garden room overlooking the south-facing terrace, perhaps to a pianist or swing band. Celebration cakes and a florist are available.
