Unspoilt National Trust beaches are just 9 miles away and the dolphin and seal watching trips readily available along the coast are some of the most popular excursions in mid Wales whilst further inland white water rafting superb fishing nostalgic journeys on the Teifi Valley narrow gauge steam railway and a host of other fantastic attractions are within a short drive of Wern Newydd Farm. A selection of shops can be found in Llandysul (2 miles) and a village shop/P.O. and an excellent pub serving good food lie conveniently at the end of the farm drive. Accommodation overview: Situated on the border of Shropshire and Powys, Bryn Tanat sits on the banks of the River Tanat overlooking the Breidden Hills to the south and west to the Meifod valley, offering stunning panoramic views of the picturesque countryside. Providing superb country living in this impressive estate house with oak framed rooms dating back to the late 17th century, but with enigmatic evidence suggesting a dwelling on the land going further back to the early Bronze Age, Bryn Tanat and surrounding estate is an area steeped in history and grandeur. Bryn Tanat offers an unrivalled location for a perfect country holiday getaway - its south-facing sunny position overlooks the sloping terraced gardens which are magnificently landscaped and ideal for outside entertaining. Owned since 1967 by the family, the property has been lovingly restored with the retention of many original features, exposed timbers and open fires which all help to create a truly amazing atmosphere.
Locally there are a number of good restaurants, two convenience stores, a petrol station and a post office. Its geographical position makes it ideal for the exploration of mid and north Wales, Shropshire and Cheshire. The market towns of Oswestry and Welshpool are less than a 20-minute drive and the medieval town of Shrewsbury and walled city of Chester are less than 40 minutes away. Days out locally may include visiting three great NT properties, Powis Castle, Chirk Castle and Erddig, a day at Bangor-on-Dee or Chester races, a trip on a steam train or canal boat. A little further afield are Snowdon or the west Wales coastline with its fabulous sandy beaches. Walking, horseriding, clay pigeon shooting and golf available locally, and Bryn Tanat has rights to 1 mile of fishing on the River Tanat from its riverside lawn and woodland.
At cost by prior arrangement, Bryn Tanat offers fine dining with full chef and maid service. For a romantic evening dine and dance in the elegant garden room overlooking the south-facing terrace, perhaps to a pianist or swing band. Celebration cakes and a florist are available. Accommodation overview: Cei Newydd is one of two beautiful properties within walking distance of the Ceredigion Marine Heritage Coast - the first to be established in Britain and which recognises the un-spoilt nature of the coastline and its wildlife. An absolutely delightful holiday property, Cei Newydd is a lovely self catering holiday cottage, which has been completely renovated from top to toe and is set in the pretty hamlet of Nanternis, near New Quay. The lime-washed stone walls and pale blue touches of the cottage echo the nearby sea.
