A multi award-winning exceptional Grade I listed fortified manor dating back to the 1400s that has undergone extensive renovation, bringing the two embattled Peele towers back into use for the first time in more than 300 years. Blencowe Hall sits on a bluff above the small river Petteril and is encompassed by its own gardens, grounds and fields incorporating access to the river. It has views to the nearby Lakeland fells and across the rolling Eden Valley.
Blencowe Hall won an English Heritage Construction Conservation Award which was accorded to the 20 most outstanding projects undertaken with their supervision in 2008, an Eden District Design Award, the NWDA Conservation Award and the RICS National Conservation Award. It is 5 Star Gold Award rated by Visit England.
Guests staying at Blencowe Hall can enjoy brown trout fishing along the river, arrange for clay pigeon shooting within the grounds or take a cycle out for the day along the C2C which runs through Blencowe village. There are some great walks and runs in the local area.
Blencowe Hall is just over a mile's walk from the village of Greystoke which is dominated by Greystoke Castle and its 3,000 acre estate, accessible for public walks. Greystoke has a heated village swimming pool, a local post office/shop, a cycle cafe and a 6th century coaching inn serving meals (The Boot and Shoe).
Blencowe Hall is on the edge of the Lake District, about four miles from the Lake District National Park and seven miles from Ullswater. Close at hand is the Aira Force National Trust waterfall offering a scenic walk up to the peak of Gowbarrow Fell.

It sits on the banks of Sandy Beck, a haven for wildlife and birdlife, including deer, red squirrels and kingfishers. The Smithy was converted from the former Blacksmiths forge by the owners in 2008. They retained the character, with vaulted ceilings and wooden beams and complemented it with the use of high quality furnishings throughout. Lorton, Crummock Water and Buttermere are nearby, with spectacular walks on the surrounding fells. The nearest pub serving bar meals is 2 miles and a wealth of amenities are available in the vibrant market town of Cockermouth, 4 miles. Surrounded by woodland on the slopes of Whinlatter forest the cottage is a perfect away from it all retreat with the delight of visiting red squirrels. It has the most fantastic summer house (or belvedere) with a deck at the top of its fellside garden, which has chairs, table and lighting It has superb views across the Derwent marshes and to the distant fells. You can walk or cycle from the doorstep and sail on the lake at Bassenthwaite.
