Separated by a stone-built barn (occasionally used by the owner), each has its own garden close to a little beck. Situated in a stunning location on the Graythwaite Estate, and just a 10-minute walk from private lake frontage, Bonfire Cottage lies within 4 acres of woodland offering plenty of natural space, where peace reigns supreme. A 2½-acre stocked lake provides free trout fishing and at the hub of the estate, beautiful Graythwaite Hall’s lovely gardens are open to the public in the Spring. Guests are also invited to use the facilities of the converted farmstead (a 10-minute walk), which provides an indoor heated swimming pool (open 8.45am - 7.45pm), a fitness suite and bicycle hire. This is an excellent holiday location for exploring the central Lake District with its varied and extensive visitor attractions such as Windermere and Bowness. Windermere offers a good day out with the beautiful Lake where boat trips can be enjoyed, whilst many restaurants are based on the lakeside enjoying the wonderful views. There are numerous shops to explore here, as well as the Aquarium of the Lakes, an entertaining insight to the fish and animals found and along the lake. Bowness is slightly futher boasting St Martin’s Church (notable for its stained glass), and The World of Beatrix Potter. The limestone grey town of Kendal is close by, home to two of Cumbria’s grandest stately homes - Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall. Kendal has many attractions to enjoy including the Kendal Museum, the Georgian Abbot Hall, the Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry, and Kendal Castle, the birthplace of Henry VIII’s sixth wife, Catherine Parr. Visit the 18th-century dome shaped villa on Belle Isle, the largest of the fourteen islands, which can be reached by ferry.
