Lowthwaite Farmhouse underwent considerable refurbishment by the new owners in 2010 to create a stunning self catering farmhouse of superior quality, which has the benefit of lovely fell views, a garden and ample parking. There are delightful walks in the valley and more strenuous walks on the surrounding fells. Threlkeld village is only 2 miles and has 2 pubs, both serve good food and one has a restaurant. The cottage has breathtaking views over open fields towards Bassenthwaite Lake, Catbells and the Borrowdale Valley beyond. Immediately behind the cottage is a wood with wildlife including birds of prey and red squirrels and, from the top, a sensational view of Skiddaw and the surrounding fells. Accommodation overview: Holly Cottage is a delightful stone-built detached cottage located directly on the banks of the River Rothay and pleasantly situated within the very heart of Grasmere. The cottage enjoys fine views of the river and the Fairfield fell range beyond and being so centrally situated, guests can enjoy some wonderful walking for all abilities straight from the door as well as all that this rather romantic village has to offer.
