Accommodation overview: This delightful cottage is situated amidst open croftland close to the edge of the shore overlooking the spectacular Sound of Sleat in the south of the Isle of Skye. There are mesmerising seascapes across the Sound of the Knoydart peninsula on the far side from the cottage and the garden grounds. Set in 3/4 acre of gardens adjoining the owners croftland, Dunpark enjoys an enviable setting in this area known as the garden of Skye. Dunpark gets its name from a prominent rock formation that juts out into the sea just below the cottage, providing a striking focal point from the main lounge windows. This traditional cottage has recently been upgraded and refurbished by the Macdonald family. The bright, attractive lounge, with its large picture windows, modern kitchen / dining room and pretty, spacious bedrooms all combine to offer visitors a warm welcoming holiday in an exceptionally spectacular setting. Accommodation overview: Bayview House was built in the 1920s as a traditional croft house. It has recently been tastefully and sympathetically upgraded and renovated with bright modern bathrooms and kitchen and beautifully coordinated soft furnishings throughout the attractive bedrooms. An original open fireplace in the lounge with lovely deep leather sofas makes this a warm welcoming room at the heart of the house. The views from all the main windows, upstairs and down are arguably some of the most spectacular on Skye with sweeping vistas across Fiskavaig Bay and beyond to the tops of Macleods Tables mountains. Amazing! A two minute walk leads down to the pretty bay, with sand and shingle beach. On the ground floor there is a cosy lounge, separate large dining room, modern family bathroom and well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs there are two good sized bedrooms and one small bedroom and a further shower room with WC and wash basin. Bayview House is set on the hillside in its own gently sloping garden grounds. The cottage offers a comfortable, warm and welcoming family holiday home with simple furnishings. There is an enclosed garden to the front.
The cottage is 1/4 of a mile off the A9 and two miles from the quaint old fishing village of Dunbeath, which has a fascinating Heritage Centre, village shop and pub. There are other pub/restaurants in the neighbouring coastal villages while the excellent shops and facilities of the bustling fishing port of Wick are a 1/2 hour drive. Local activities include golf, river and sea angling, walking, climbing and trekking and there are many sand and shingle beaches, or perhaps try gold-panning at Strath of Kildonan. The bird reserves of the isolated and deserted Flow Country are nearby and this is also an ideal base for exploring the far north of Scotland - John o'Groats and the Orkney ferry are within reach for intriguing days out.
