The River Chet runs through the village and daily boat hire is available. The River Chet Walk is a very pleasant walk from Loddon, running through the village, to the end of the river at Hardley Cross.

The small village of Claxton lies between Rockland St Mary and Loddon in the Yare Valley and the Broads National Park. Surrounded by rolling countryside, quiet lanes and National Cycle Route 1, it is a super area to explore on cycles or on foot. The River Yare, Rockland Broad, Surlingham Marsh Nature Reserve, Whitlingham Country Park and Wheatfen all offer excellent opportunities for nature lovers to see wildlife such as deer and otters, winter and summer migratory birds, unusual dragonflies and butterflies. The Wherrymans Way, the long distance path which runs from Norwich to Great Yarmouth, The Suffolk Heritage Coast at Southwold and Lowestoft's blue flag sandy beach are easily accessible as is the historic cathedral city of Norwich.

The property retains some of the character and original beams of the traditional farm barns from which it has been converted.
