Accommodation overview: Village Farm Cottage is an excellent property! Built in the 18th century and situated in the grounds of the owners beautiful home, this classic little cottage is situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Priston itself just 15 minutes from the very centre of Bath. A detached property and literally within yards of open countryside, this traditional holiday cottage provides quality self catering accommodation at a superb price. Internally the cottage enjoys many period features including exposed beams, thick stone walls and Gothic archways all of which add to the character of the original building. Added to this is the stripped pine flooring and the wood-burner which make the cottage warm and homely. A coffin from this site was discovered in 1917! The village is recorded in the Domesday Book as including the presence of a church, possibly wooden; however the nave of the Church of St Luke and St Andrew was added in the 12th century, and the church has a tower dating from the 15th century. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building and is crowned with a disproportionately large weather vane given as a gift by the lord of the manor in 1813. As you can see the village is steeped in history. Priston Mill was given by the monks of Bath Abbey in 931 and is powered by a 25 feet water wheel. Today the present building dates from the late 18th or early 19th century and is maintained in working condition, with the associated tithe barn (1700's) it is currently used as a wedding and conference venue.Nearby is the Georgian City of Bath with its many facilities and shops plus Glastonbury, Wells, Weston-Super-Mare, Stourhead, Longleat House & Safari Park, Castle Combe, Lacock.

You will be perfectly positioned for touring the whole area in one of the most beautiful parts of Somerset. The Quantocks offer wonderful walking from leisurely strolls to more challenging walks including the Coleridge Way. Other attractions within easy reach include Clarks Shopping Village Cheddar Gorge Wookey Hole West Somerset Steam Railway Roman Bath and numerous National Trust properties being a few. Exmoor is a short drive away. Farm activities: on site you will be welcome to explore the farm and feed the wild ducks on the moat or sit back and relax in the garden soaking up the peace and tranquillity. There is much to see and do in the area Tarr Steps is a pleasant 3 mile walk and there is also horse riding and fishing nearby. Dulverton is well worth a visit and has many good places to eat. The coast of North Devon is only a short drive away with the seaside towns of Lynton Lynmouth Porlock and others. There are excellent coastal walks especially through the Valley of the Rocks and from Heddons Mouth to Woody Bay. Amenities: private parking space immediately outside the cottage. Bed linen towels electric and night storage heating included. The properties are supplied with water from a spring. Regret no smoking. 2 dogs welcome. Location: beach 20 miles shop and pub 3 miles. Arrival: 3pm. The detached barn is warm light and comfortable and all situated on one floor offering ONE good size bedroom with king-size bed and views over the Barle Valley. This is an unusual property, and we think you'll love it when you stay.
