DOGS AND CHICKENS This delightful detached cottage is situated in the beautiful gardens of the owner s adjacent home yet offers peace and privacy. Guests to the cottage will be amongst a handful of properties hence the name. The immediate properties enjoy south facing and established gardens. This one which you are more than welcome to use has a graceful weeping willow and several apple trees together with a small brood of chickens at the bottom of the garden. Ideally placed to visit the sandy beaches at Burnham and Brean as well as being close to the wealth of attractions that Somerset has to offer including Cheddar Gorge Wookey Hole and Clarks Village. Situated in the centre of the Somerset Levels you will also have a vast choice of walks and cycles routes to choose from and Alstone Riding Stables are located just down the lane. First two weeks in November is carnival season with the Bridgwater Burnham and Weston Carnivals a must. The cosy yet contemporary accommodation has ONE bedroom: double on the first floor with king-size bed TV and en-suite shower room with WC. Door on landing area with juliette balcony and views across the treetops and garden beyond. Lounge/kitchen/diner: open-plan with wall mounted TV/DVD leather sofas and dining area. Built in the 18th century and situated in the grounds of the owners beautiful home, this classic little cottage is situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Priston itself just 15 minutes from the very centre of Bath. A detached property and literally within yards of open countryside, this traditional holiday cottage provides quality self catering accommodation at a superb price. Internally the cottage enjoys many period features including exposed beams, thick stone walls and Gothic archways all of which add to the character of the original building. Added to this is the stripped pine flooring and the wood-burner which make the cottage warm and homely. A coffin from this site was discovered in 1917! The village is recorded in the Domesday Book as including the presence of a church, possibly wooden; however the nave of the Church of St Luke and St Andrew was added in the 12th century, and the church has a tower dating from the 15th century. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building and is crowned with a disproportionately large weather vane given as a gift by the lord of the manor in 1813. As you can see the village is steeped in history. Priston Mill was given by the monks of Bath Abbey in 931 and is powered by a 25 feet water wheel. Today the present building dates from the late 18th or early 19th century and is maintained in working condition, with the associated tithe barn (1700's) it is currently used as a wedding and conference venue.Nearby is the Georgian City of Bath with its many facilities and shops plus Glastonbury, Wells, Weston-Super-Mare, Stourhead, Longleat House & Safari Park, Castle Combe, Lacock.

Visiting one of the many film locations and National Trust properties such as Montacue (Wolf Hall Sense & Sensability) Stourhead (Pride and Prejudice Emma) and Barrington Court (Wolf Hall) are a must and Longleat with its famous Safari Park is great fun for adults and children alike. For those who like a flutter Wincanton Racecourse is just 3 miles away or take the short drive to the south coast with sandy beaches such as Weymouth Lyme Regis Chesil Beach Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door being well worth a visit (all approximately 45 minutes drive). The cottages are both south facing and offer views over the surrounding garden with its small pond to the fields beyond. Early risers have often spotted local wildlife frequent visitors include deer foxes and swallows return every year in summer and the owner s own pets add to the country ambience. Walkers and cyclists are well catered for with circular routes direct from the cottages.
