Located within the heart of the countryside yet under 1 mile from an excellent public house and restaurant close enough to enjoy a drink and meal in the evening and stroll back. The nearby village of Milverton has a good shop selling most things. Taunton is within 6 miles and offers an extensive range of shops restaurants and leisure facilities. The cottage lies in the vale between the Quantock and Blackdown Hills both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty with excellent walking cycling and horse riding potential. It is also centrally located for visiting both coastlines. To the north you will find Minehead and Weston-Super-Mare and to the south the popular towns of Seaton Lyme Regis and Exmouth. If you fancy a day out then there is much to see and do around the area such as a visit to one of the many National Trust properties and gardens nearby Oake Manor Golf Club The West Somerset Steam Railway Somerset County Cricket ground and Taunton Racecourse are all close by. You can look for fossils on Kilve beach an Area of Special Scientific Interest. Further along the coast is the seaside town of Minehead with its sandy beach harbour fishing and coastal boat trips. Between Kilton and Minehead are several small quiet pebbled bays for those wishing to avoid the crowds and many welcome dogs all year. Also nearby is the Stockland Lovell Equestrian Centre and the West Somerset steam train. Built in the 18th century and situated in the grounds of the owners beautiful home, this classic little cottage is situated on the edge of the picturesque village of Priston itself just 15 minutes from the very centre of Bath. A detached property and literally within yards of open countryside, this traditional holiday cottage provides quality self catering accommodation at a superb price. Internally the cottage enjoys many period features including exposed beams, thick stone walls and Gothic archways all of which add to the character of the original building. Added to this is the stripped pine flooring and the wood-burner which make the cottage warm and homely. A coffin from this site was discovered in 1917! The village is recorded in the Domesday Book as including the presence of a church, possibly wooden; however the nave of the Church of St Luke and St Andrew was added in the 12th century, and the church has a tower dating from the 15th century. It has been designated by English Heritage as a Grade I listed building and is crowned with a disproportionately large weather vane given as a gift by the lord of the manor in 1813. As you can see the village is steeped in history. Priston Mill was given by the monks of Bath Abbey in 931 and is powered by a 25 feet water wheel. Today the present building dates from the late 18th or early 19th century and is maintained in working condition, with the associated tithe barn (1700's) it is currently used as a wedding and conference venue.Nearby is the Georgian City of Bath with its many facilities and shops plus Glastonbury, Wells, Weston-Super-Mare, Stourhead, Longleat House & Safari Park, Castle Combe, Lacock.
