Pendleton Cottage is a lovely, detached one bedroom cottage ideally located on the edge of the Peak District National Park. This delightful, newly renovated property retains its original character, with beams and exposed stonework throughout.
The cottage is situated in the picturesque village of Alderwasley, in a peaceful and relatively undiscovered area just a few miles from Matlock. It makes a perfect base for walking in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside and is surrounded by woods and valleys, with stunning views.
Dogs are welcome and there are beautiful walks right from the door. The owners have prepared detailed maps and directions for walks around the cottages, so you can find the prettiest footpaths and best views (and avoid cows and other hazards!)
The well known Bear Inn is less than half a mile away, and you can walk across the fields, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding hills and woodland.
The quirky, historic market town of Wirksworth is just two miles away, and has shops, pubs, a couple of very nice restaurants and several take-aways.
The area is rich in history and is within easy reach of the Derwent Valley Mills world heritage site, Matlock, Bakewell and Ashbourne, and the country houses of Chatsworth, Haddon and Hardwick.

Accommodation overview: The Stables is a superb self catering holiday cottage set in a leafy area of Stratford upon Avon called Shottery, an area best known for 'Anne Hathaway's Cottage' which is about 300 yards away. If you would like to enjoy the superb facilities (including the National Theatre) in Stratford then you really could not be more conveniently located, as everything is within walking distance. The property is a 5 star standard and has been beautifully modernised to provide spacious and light accommodation ideal for families or groups alike. Of particular appeal is the huge open plan living space which 'spills' onto the courtyard. Although this is a central location it is private and relatively peaceful and with an off street parking spot you can leave the car and stroll into town too. The cottage is a very good size for four people, but has the advantage of an extra bed if a fifth person wishes to travel*.
