Situated in the sleepy village of Tarlton (half way between Cirencester and Tetbury) this thatched cottage is possibly the most romantic cottage we have come across. Dating back over 400 years it was once home a particularly tall shepherd which explains the higher than normal ceilings! Internally the property has been carefully, restored to provide superb self catering accommodation, with many Cotswold charms such as original oak beams, flagstone floors and inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove. The property also has many contemporary touches with quality bed and bedding and a sumptuous bathroom which altogether create a real sense of luxury. The cottage has a delightful garden with superb views across Cotswold countryside with the source of the River Thames just a short walk away. The Farriers details

The Farriers is a sunny Cotswold stone cottage situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Southrop.

The village is criss-crossed with footpaths, some of which lead to the River Leach, and others to the neighbouring villages of Eastleach and Hatherop. The church in Southrop dates back to 1086 and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.

The famous gastropub the Swan is within a few minutes' stroll of the cottage and reservations are advised. There is a Wednesday Shop and Post Office held in the Village Hall selling supplies from Sainsburys, and the Southrop Estate also has a shop selling a selection of kitchen/dining goods and household accessories.

Southrop Manor also offers cooking classes which are held in the Tithe Barn and can be booked direct with them in advance of your stay.

High speed trains to London Paddington are available from Swindon (12 miles) or Charlbury (17 miles).

Southrop is two miles from the A361 Burford-to-Lechlade road.

Beckwood is a converted 17th century silk mill providing holiday accommodation over four floors. The enchanting garden has a mill stream bubbling through it, sun deck and lawn shaded by attractive apple trees.

Blockley has two pubs within walking distance, and a grocery store. The villages of Stow-on-the-Wold, Chipping Campden and Broadway boast an excellent choice of pubs, bistros, restaurants and shops for guests to enjoy and are all nearby.

The village has a unique collection of buildings reflecting its past glory of mills and silk production and there are many enjoyable walks leading from the village over beautiful countryside.
