Lock House is a beautiful detached Grade II listed former Lock Keepers house, located at the entrance to the historic Gloucester Docks. This delightfully welcoming holiday property offers cosy accommodation including three bedrooms, a bathroom with an attractive roll top bath, two sitting rooms with open fires, original wooden floors, and a dining room that overlooks the River Severn. The garden is situated right on the riverbank, and is a wonderful spot in which to relax with a drink after a day spent sightseeing. Gloucester Docks is a short distance from The Lock House, and offers some lively attractions including award winning museums, restaurants, bars, cafes and shops, and traditional shipbuilding. Tetbury, in our opinion is the one Cotswold town which many people don't know enough of and therefore, often miss the opportunity to see possibly the nicest and most unspoilt town of all in the Cotswolds! Slightly further afield and for the more adventurous are Bath (30 mins) Cheltenham (35 mins) and Oxford (35 mins) along with many other villages and market towns along with National Trust properties and gardens. Closer to the cottage in Asthall, just down the lane, is the historic Manor house and church. Asthall Manor was the childhood home of the Mitford sisters.

The property, which is located in a quiet corner of the Lower Mill Village, is a detached home sitting on the banks of a River Thames tributary with views looking towards the lakes beyond. In fact the owner tells us if you like to fish, you can't be better situated - fishing on your own private lake!! This particular holiday cottage has many positive elements as well as its location but in particular it has access to a large and private garden area which sits overlooking the lake and which is exclusive to guests in this cottage! Internally, the owner has maintained the cottage to a high standard and provides a contemporary holiday home ideal for families or small groups alike. Accommodation overview: Bellhouse details
Bellhouse is a characterful, spacious rambling house with comfortable accommodation. It is in a glorious, quiet and very secluded setting with plenty of opportunities for long walks. The boundaries of the garden and woodland abut Woodchester Park, owned by the National Trust, and from the house it is possible to walk for miles without crossing a road,hearing a car or seeing more than a handful of people. Wildlife abounds around the five ornamental lakes which run through the Park. The Cotswold Way passes nearby.
The house itself forms the south-west wing of Woodchester Park House, a Grade II listed building. It dates back to the 1860s and retains many original features. Bellhouse's garden is attractive and private. A courtyard and a further patio area provide sun traps for outdoor sitting and eating. A large lawn surrounded by mature shrubs and trees is good for children's games. (Parents beware two ponds are separated off by a low fence). The garden is also enjoyed by foxes and badgers. The badgers are often spotted at dusk when they come for peanuts.
The Rose and Crown in Nympsfield is a 20-minute walk. Nailsworth, just three miles away, has a deli to die forand the best ever local bakery and coffee shop.
Cheltenham, Bath and Cirencester are all within 30 minutes' drive. The Gatcombe and Badminton Horse Trials are each within 20 minutes. For gardeners, Westonbirt Arboretum, Rodmarton Manor and Abbey House Gardens, Malmesbury are close. For music lovers, the annual Tetbury Music Festival is 15 minutes away. Slimbridge Wetland Centre, Berkeley Castle, Cattle Country, the Cotswold Water Park and the Bristol Gliding club are also within half an hour's drive.
