The Barn is 9 miles from Cirencester; 15 miles from Cheltenham; 25 miles from Oxford; 30 miles from Stratford-upon-Avon. Many famous Cotswold villages are within twenty minutes by car such as Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, The Slaughters, The Swells, Great and Little Barrington, Moreton-in-Marsh etc. The famous gardens of Kiftsgate and Hidcote are about forty minutes away, not far from the delightful town of Chipping Campden. The property is a modernised spacious, self-contained wing of an important Grade II listed manor house, close to the west bank of the river Severn on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire border. It has been redecorated to a very high standard and is furnished throughout with antique furniture and decorative prints.
Parts of the house date back to the 15th century, including the Medieval Great Hall built by the Abbots of the Benedictine monastery at Tewkesbury (four miles). Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn are believed to have stayed here in July 1535. The present owners are the eighth generation to own the manor and its estate. The wing was added circa 1890 by the Arts and Crafts architect, Philip Webb.
Cheltenham with its racecourse, literary and music festivals and shops is 12 miles away. The cities of Gloucester and Worcester with their museums and cathedrals are both 25 minutes away. The nearby Malvern Hills and Bredon Hill provide excellent walking opportunities. There are several historic houses to be visited locally, among which Eastnor Castle (Ledbury) and Sudeley Castle (Winchcombe) are prominent. The Cotswolds' western escarpment with the gardens of Kiftsgate and Hidcote and the picturesque town of Broadway are easily reached. There are 18-hole golf courses at Puckrup (six miles) and Tewkesbury Park (five miles). The nearest pub is the approximately half a mile from the property and serves traditional food and ales. Bellhouse is a characterful, spacious rambling house with comfortable accommodation. It is in a glorious, quiet and very secluded setting with plenty of opportunities for long walks. The boundaries of the garden and woodland abut Woodchester Park, owned by the National Trust, and from the house it is possible to walk for miles without crossing a road,hearing a car or seeing more than a handful of people. Wildlife abounds around the five ornamental lakes which run through the Park. The Cotswold Way passes nearby.
The house itself forms the south-west wing of Woodchester Park House, a Grade II listed building. It dates back to the 1860s and retains many original features. Bellhouse's garden is attractive and private. A courtyard and a further patio area provide sun traps for outdoor sitting and eating. A large lawn surrounded by mature shrubs and trees is good for children's games. (Parents beware two ponds are separated off by a low fence). The garden is also enjoyed by foxes and badgers. The badgers are often spotted at dusk when they come for peanuts.
The Rose and Crown in Nympsfield is a 20-minute walk. Nailsworth, just three miles away, has a deli to die forand the best ever local bakery and coffee shop.
Cheltenham, Bath and Cirencester are all within 30 minutes' drive. The Gatcombe and Badminton Horse Trials are each within 20 minutes. For gardeners, Westonbirt Arboretum, Rodmarton Manor and Abbey House Gardens, Malmesbury are close. For music lovers, the annual Tetbury Music Festival is 15 minutes away. Slimbridge Wetland Centre, Berkeley Castle, Cattle Country, the Cotswold Water Park and the Bristol Gliding club are also within half an hour's drive.

The Granary incorporates an original stone barn and offers peaceful seclusion in a very rural position at the end of a half mile private road. Guests will enjoy spacious, comfortable and generously sized accommodation with sunny south west facing views across farmland and privately owned woodland.
With a network of footpaths nearby there is plenty of walking and the lack of light pollution means wonderful star gazing at night. It is in an area with lots of native wildlife: badgers, foxes, deer, ravens, sparrow hawks, owls (including barn owls), woodpeckers, nuthatches and lots of garden birds. This is a unique corner of West Gloucestershire, famous for native wild daffodils in spring.
The large enclosed fenced and private garden with cherry trees is safe for dogs. The Granary is adjoining the owners' home.
There is a large privately owned lake nearby (100 yards from The Granary) and guests are welcome to use it (at their own risk) for freshwater swimming and fishing. Well stocked with Tench, Bream, Perch, Rudd and even Bleak, this is an area full of native wildlife such as frogs, newts, toads and dragonflies – with an occasional chance to glimpse a kingfisher.
London is approximately a three hour drive. Local train stations are Ledbury and Gloucester.

The Farriers is a sunny Cotswold stone cottage situated in the heart of the picturesque village of Southrop.
The village is criss-crossed with footpaths, some of which lead to the River Leach, and others to the neighbouring villages of Eastleach and Hatherop. The church in Southrop dates back to 1086 and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.
The famous gastropub the Swan is within a few minutes' stroll of the cottage and reservations are advised. There is a Wednesday Shop and Post Office held in the Village Hall selling supplies from Sainsburys, and the Southrop Estate also has a shop selling a selection of kitchen/dining goods and household accessories.
Southrop Manor also offers cooking classes which are held in the Tithe Barn and can be booked direct with them in advance of your stay.
High speed trains to London Paddington are available from Swindon (12 miles) or Charlbury (17 miles).
