Rose & Crown House was built in the early C17th as a merchant's house and for most of the C19th and early C20th used as an inn. The building is Grade II listed and is mentioned in Pevsner's the Buildings of England. It has a very period feel and has some panelling and exposed wooden beams throughout.
Chipping Campden is arguably the most attractive of the larger Cotswolds wool villages and the High Street where Rose and Crown House is located was described the the historian Sir George Trevellyan as the most beautiful village street now left in this island. The village has a good range of shops, restaurants and pubs and is a good centre for visiting the Cotswold beauty sports, gardens and Stratford-upon-Avon

Accommodation overview: Grist Mill is an early 18th Century watermill hidden at the bottom of the Owlpen valley, deep in the Southern edge of The Cotswolds. It is a 'listed' historic building, completely restored to provide wonderfully unique holiday cottage accommodation. Contemporary in comfort and style, the whole building is like a time warp, with unrivalled character and charm. There are many period features within the property, including beams and period furniture. Outside are the gigantic mill wheel and millpond - a haven for wild life. There are a Post Office/village shop, two pubs, a brewery and an arts centre in Uley approx half a mile away.ACCOMMODATION: The ground floor has an entrance hall leading to a large open-plan Kitchen come Dining/Living room, with a snug wood-burning stove. The village boasts the well known Motor Museum (home of Brum), the Model Village, Birdland and Model Railway Exhibition. A superb location in all respects. (There are local buses running to Cheltenham, Stow on the Wold and Cirencester just 200 yards for the cottage. Needless to say many pretty villages such as Bibury, Lower Slaughter, Upper Slaughter, Blockley are all nearby. Oxford, Stratford upon Avon and Cheltenham are all nearby.

Westonbirt Arboretum is forty minutes to the South and Batsford Arboretum about twenty minutes North. Many interesting local gardens are open through the season.
