Accommodation overview: Kingfishers Cottage is a brilliant holiday cottage for families - small or large, or simply for those who like peace and comfort outside school holidays. Located within the Cotswolds' 450 acre Lower Mill Estate nature reserve and just a two minute stroll from the River Thames tributary, the property offers accommodation ideal for families with youngsters but also perfect for couples looking to relax. Internally, the cottage is welcoming and well furnished with your own grassed area outside, perfect for sitting / playing with small and shallow stream and lake beyond. The Lower Mill is particularly attractive for families as there are many activities on offer including an outdoor heated swimming pool, tennis court and walking as well as countless other activities nearby. Country walks can begin from your doorstep and the centre of the village with its excellent pub (The New Inn) and village stores are only a five minute stroll. Part of The Cottage dates back to the 17th Century, when it was once a toll keeper's cottage for the Moreton-in-Marsh market! Today the property retains many period features including an inglenook fireplace, beams and flagstone uneven floors(!) and mullion windows, which combined with the modern comforts create a homely holiday cottage. The cottage also has a small, pretty back garden. We feel this cottage represents excellent value for money. Nestling in the southwest corner of Gloucestershire with direct access across the owners land there are walks in all directions to explore the area including the Offa s Dyke Path. It is close to Wye Valley Brecon Beacons and family attractions in the Forest of Dean. The National Diving and Activity Centre are also nearby enjoy zip wire rides water walking fly boarding as well as diving for all abilities. An equestrian centre is opposite the house for guests wishing to go horse riding. For those looking for quieter activities take a look at Chepstow Castle and bridge which sits above the Wye or a round of golf at the nearby golf course. Lastly a visit to Chepstow would not be complete without a visit to the racecourse home to the Welsh National each year.
