Walking in the area is superb with many footpaths passing through attractive villages and along the rivers and streams; quarry lakes with lots of wildlife. The village boasts the well known Motor Museum (home of Brum), the Model Village, Birdland and Model Railway Exhibition. A superb location in all respects. (There are local buses running to Cheltenham, Stow on the Wold and Cirencester just 200 yards for the cottage. Needless to say many pretty villages such as Bibury, Lower Slaughter, Upper Slaughter, Blockley are all nearby. Oxford, Stratford upon Avon and Cheltenham are all nearby.

The village is situated alongside the River Windrush in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage has been refurbished to modern standards, but retains character features including exposed wooden beams, a wood burning fire, inglenook fireplace and window seats. Scenic walks along the Warden’s Way can be joined a few metres from the door. The village boasts a 15th century church and medieval dovecote. The Black Horse, a traditional country pub (known locally for its good food) is less than 100 yards from the cottage.

Places to visit nearby include Bourton-on-the-Water and its shops, pubs and attractions (4 miles); the lovely town of Stow-on-the-Wold, with its quality shopping and restaurants (5.5 miles); Sudeley Castle (7 miles); Sezincote Gardens (10 miles); Batsford Arboretum and Cotswold Falconry Centre (10 miles); Longborough's popular opera festival in June/July (11 miles). Accommodation overview: Thames Cottage is a sweet holiday cottage, set within the popular Lower Mill Village, itself part of the 450 acre Lower Mill Estate privately owned nature reserve. The property, which is semi detached, is a traditionally styled Cotswold Stone cottage which sits on the edge of the development, overlooks a little River Thames stream, while a short walk across the lane in front of the cottage, takes you to the lake, where you can sit and enjoy the view across the lake. There are many activities on offer including an outdoor heated swimming pool and tennis court. The cottage is wonderfully welcoming inside and is perfect for couples looking to getaway to the Cotswolds lakes.ACCOMMODATION (All on one level)Entrance into large Kitchen / Living / Dining room. The Pavilion has unrivalled views of the beautiful rolling countryside. Full-length French windows running the length of the property afford a 180 degree panorama of farmland and woods stretching five miles in every direction. The bucolic setting is second to none: although on the edge of a quintessential Cotswold village, here you will feel at one with nature, away from it all.

Built in the 1990s in a style reminiscent of the colonial era, the Pavilion was until recently a writer's retreat. The interior has been refurbished to the highest standard by designer Susie Stocks, whose restful palette complements the landscape beyond. There is a veranda along its southern side, with a private decked area and lawn one end, and a patio the other. The fields beyond are 'Footpath Central' where it is not unusual to happen upon deer.

Within 10 minutes' drive are a host of top quality pubs, including the Feathered Nest in Westcote, the Plough in Kingham and the Kings Head in Bledington. Stow-on-the-Wold. Daylesford Farm Shop, Burford (with its famous Wildlife Park) and Bourton-on-the-Water are all within five miles. Oxford and Stratford-Upon-Avon are half an hours' drive away. Kingham station (90 minutes from Paddington) is two miles away.

Moore Cottage is situated in a quiet position next to Moore House, just a two minute walk from the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water which stands on the river Windrush. Holidaymakers will have a very good choice of restaurants, pubs and shops, all within walking distance. There is also the Model Village, Motor Museum, Bird Sanctuary and Perfumery to visit. For the serious walkers there is a wide variety of choice in all directions through Upper Slaughter, Lower Slaughter, Upper Rissington and Lower Rissington.

Burford (the Gateway to the Cotswolds); Cirencester (most attractive market town since Roman times); Cheltenham (the Spa town with beautiful architecture and a racing history); Stratford-upon-Avon (the birth place of William Shakespeare); Chipping Norton and Chipping Campden (both Mediaeval market towns); and Broadway (a truly historic town with lovely shops and of course the Lygon Arms) are all within 15 miles. It is a 'listed' historic building, completely restored to provide wonderfully unique holiday cottage accommodation. There are many period features within the property, including beams and period furniture.
