In association with Trinity House, Rural Retreats are pleased to present St Catherine's Lighthouse. Situated just outside the hamlet of Niton, approximately 10 minutes' drive from the popular coastal resort of Ventnor, the southern most point of the Isle of Wight. The site comprises a terrace of three holiday cottages: Gurnard, Landward and Penda. There are guided tours of the lighthouse throughout the year (subject to availability). Beyond the courtyard there is a communal grass area where children could play. Guests can unload in the parking area adjacent to Penda Cottage.
The lighthouse does not have a fog signal.
Access roads to some of the lighthouse sites are narrow with limited passing places and, dependent on the season and site, there is the possibility of overhanging vegetation due to cutting restrictions during bird breeding seasons or other environmental reasons.
Guests should be aware that the lighthouses and equipment need regular and sometimes emergency maintenance. Therefore visits by maintenance staff may occur at any time during the year. However, staff will do their best to ensure guest privacy at all times.
There is an excellent real ale pub a 10-minute walk up the hill.
