The market town of Lostwithiel is close with shops restaurants and pubs as well as Restormel Castle which overlooks the River Fowey and makes a pleasant location for a picnic. The beautiful harbour of Fowey is also within easy reach where the renowned author Daphne Du Maurier lived. A festival is held each May which is a celebration of her life and work. Fowey Regatta week (August) is a popular event with competitive sailing events street carnival the Red Arrows display team and much more. The picturesque and unspoilt harbour of Charlestown is also worth a visit.
