Accommodation overview: Less than a 5 minute walk down the hill to the safe sandy beach at Porth, this recently upgraded 19th century mid terrace stone cottage is ideal for family holidays and within easy reach of all the activities that Newquay has to offer about a mile away. 

Offering a comfortable and well equipped home from home at any time of the year with gas central heating and an open fire, Cockle Cottage is set on the North Coast of Cornwall yet still in a central position perfect as a touring base for exploring the whole county. 

Approached from the parking area where there is space for two cars, one in a lockable garage, a pedestrian gate and a dozen open sided steps lead down through the landscaped garden to the entrance at the rear.  A half glazed door opens to a modern fully fitted kitchen with a quarry tiled floor, smart dining suite, additional breakfast bar and patio doors to the front courtyard providing a short cut to the beach. 

At the rear, an inner hallway gives access to the warm and cosy sitting room with a high painted beam ceiling and sumptuous lounge seating facing the brick fireplace with open fire. 

Carpeted stairs lead up from the hall to the first floor landing where there is a fully tiled bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath and two delightful bedrooms in a fresh crisp décor.  The master bedroom has a 5ft king-size bed, dual aspect windows and a couple of easy chairs in one corner for reading, relaxing and watching television, and the second bedroom has twin beds

To the rear of the property is a fully enclosed terraced garden with a sheltered paved patio and raised gravel terrace with garden furniture.  The South West Coast Path and the large sandy beach offering easy access and safe bathing at Porth are just 300 yards down the hill with a pub and seasonal shop just a little further. 

Newquay’s local shops, pubs and restaurants are a 10 minute walk and the resort centre with a wider selection of amenities including a zoo, Sea Life Aquarium and cinema is about a 20 minute walk away or one mile by car.  There are several other beaches in the Newquay area within easy reach including Watergate Bay (home to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen Restaurant), Lusty Glaze, Tolcarne and Fistral, to name but a few. 

Golf, horse riding and ten pin bowling are all available nearby as is coarse fishing at Porth Reservoir and there is a local bus service operating to Newquay, Watergate Bay, Mawgan Porth and Padstow.

This 350 year old Cornish farmhouse holiday home oozes character and charm. It has been sympathetically restored and features original slate flagstone floors, natural wood doors and oak flooring. The enormous farmhouse family kitchen is fitted with handmade solid wood units around a large racing green AGA cooker, a really special place to gather the family for leisurely meals whilst planning the days ahead. A separate utility room and rear hall has lots of space for storing any amount of boots, coats, and beach equipment or even pushchairs. This area includes a washing machine and tumble dryer. There is access to a large downstairs bathroom, with fitted shower over the bath. This facility is ideal when returning from a day surfing or playing on one of seven award winning local sandy beaches. A steep wooden staircase from the farmhouse kitchen leads up to a large triple bedroom right under the eaves. With sloping ceilings and views over the gardens to the sea at Porth, this makes a great family or teenage bedroom. Three steps up from the kitchen you will find a spacious and comfortable family sitting room. This beautiful room has many original features such as a settle built into the fireplace which houses an enormous Hunters wood-burning stove. The ground floor accommodation is completed by a separate second sitting room ideal for children, with games and books. This room has double French doors straight out to the charming walled front garden. Stairs lead from the central hallway to the first floor where the master double bedroom has an en-suite shower room. There is a further double bedroom and two twin rooms. These bedrooms are served by a large stylish family bathroom with wet shower area. The extent of outdoor space is simply breathtaking, with lawns, paddocks, sheltered walled garden and superb summerhouse located on the paved swimming pool area.
