Access is gained through an ancient Lych gate opposite the 11th Century Church which is part of the hamlet of Colan. Fabulous countryside beckons from the doorstep with country lanes, woods and the fantastic Cornish coastline is only 3 miles away. If you enjoy surfing then visit Newquay and one of its 7 award winning golden beaches. Within a few miles radius you could visit the National Trust's Trerice House, go Mediterranean or Tropical at the world famous Eden Project, or even cycle the Camel trail from Wadebridge to Padstow. If you love good food then you will be just as happy visiting any of these areas to sample world renowned cuisine. From the shared walled garden and private screened patio area, enter through double French doors and find this well-appointed Cornish cottage. The characterful lounge has a lovely garden outlook and with its own fireplace will keep you cosy on cooler evenings. A smart fully fitted kitchen with original slate flagstone floor has integrated appliances and room for four to comfortably dine. Accommodation overview: 1 OF 4 COTTAGES SET WITHIN A NATURE RESERVE WITH SHEEP PONIES GOATS AND CATTLE These traditional Cornish granite cottages approached via a long private drive are set in 20 acres in the centre of Helman Tor Nature Reserve and overlook Redmoor with Helman Tor above them and Breney Common on the far side of the Tor. On the farm is a small flock of goats some Exmoor ponies and the nearest fields are grazed by Dexter cattle and further over by Belted Galloway cattle. There is a network of trails leading to all parts of the Reserve which are provided by Cornwall Wildlife Trust and a map of these is included inside the property folders and can also be found on the Trust s website. The Saints Way path which leaves Padstow and reaches Fowey passes the other side of the Tor where there is small car park. Close by is the National Trust Lanhydrock House with beautiful gardens and cycle tracks which connect to Bodmin and the Camel Trail Cycle Track. The Eden Project golf fishing and horse riding are nearby. The cottages have been converted from a range of old granite farm buildings dating back to the 1860s and many original features have been retained. Maximum use is made of sunlight through solar electricity generation and water and heating and ventilation systems. Each cottage is provided with a copy of The Saints Way a book describing the Way running from Padstow to Fowey past Helman Tor and other interesting landmarks of the Way. A low enclosed wall separates the cottages from the rest of the farm. Outside: shared enclosed lawn offers plenty of space for children to play. Some toys are provided along with a BBQ and seating. The cottage, enlarged and refurbished from an early 17th century fisherman's cottage, has spectacular sea views and stands overlooking a beautiful Cornish beach and harbour. Situated at the end of a footpath it is an ideal venue to unwind whilst on holiday. The cottage has steps down to the sandy beach, shared with a neighbouring property. The south-facing garden with two terraces, ideal for al fresco dining and sun bathing, is bounded by a stone sea wall which rises from the rocks and beach below.
Gorran Haven is a pretty fishing village set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with general store/bakery, post office, restaurant, pub/hotel and a public mooring in the harbour in the summer months.
