The perfect romantic hideaway for two, Barnacles has undergone extensive refurbishment and is now a perfectly snug and luxurious romantic retreat.
Barnacles is a waterfront apartment accessed from a street level front door, down a flight of stairs leading down into a hallway, with the entrance to the apartment at the end on the left.
Please note the passageway into Barnacles has shared access with the freeholder, who very occasionally uses it.
The property enjoys steps leading down to the sandy water's edge and is an idyllic spot in which to enjoy a special holiday break. Set in a building that was once a chandlers, where transactions took place from boats moored alongside the decking, it now affords views of the Boddinik Ferry and of the constantly changing river scenes.
The ancient town of Fowey, with its harbour, yacht clubs and historic buildings, has much to offer its visitors. Narrow streets lead to interesting shops, excellent restaurants, bistros and pubs, also allowing access to cliff tops and small sandy beaches at Readymoney Cove, plus a myriad of activities such as sea trips, boat hire and guided tours.
The May 'Daphne Du Maurier week' (whose family home is directly opposite Barnacles), the August 'Fowey Royal Regatta' and the Christmas Fayre all bring visitors to these immensely popular events. Within a 10 minute drive are the beaches of Par and Polkerris, whilst a little further afield, are the visitor attractions of the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Accommodation overview: Less than a mile from the South West Coast Path and the dramatic headland at Cape Cornwall, this mid nineteenth century end of terrace granite cottage is ideally situated for walkers, cyclists, bird watchers and surfers, tucked away in a quiet terrace on the outskirts of St Just.
Offering warm and cosy accommodation all year round, the property is entered through a fenced and gated garden with the front door opening directly into a traditionally furnished living room with a board and beam ceiling and white washed stonewalls. There is lounge seating on one side facing the open fire, and a dining suite on the opposite side with some of the original wall niches, both with windows overlooking the front lawn, and an open doorway at the rear of the cottage leads to a newly fitted kitchen.
A rather steep cottage staircase leads up from the living room to the first floor landing where there are a bathroom W.C. with hand basin and shower over the bath and three bedrooms. There is a double bedroom and single bedroom at the front with sea views on the horizon and in an extension at the rear, a couple of steps lead up to the third narrow bedroom with a single bed and a window overlooking the village cricket ground. There are electric convector heaters in all bedrooms.
The front garden is fully enclosed with a level lawn and mature shrubs, and there is off street parking for two cars. St Just has a good selection of small shops, pubs and restaurants within a 10 minute walk and the village is on a bus route to Penzance which has a wider range of amenities, a railway station and ferry services to the Isles of Scilly.
Cape Cornwall Country Club, half a mile away, has an 18-hole golf course, restaurant and swimming pool. From the cottage, several footpaths lead across farmland and NT moorland down to the coast via the beautiful wooded Kenidjack Valley and the birdwatchers paradise of Cot Valley. Dogs are currently allowed on the small pebble beaches at Cape Cornwall, ¾ mile, and Cot Valley, 1.5 miles, and the sandy surfing beach at Sennen is only 5 miles by road. Accommodation overview: This charming little cottage set in a row of 200 year old listed cottages, is situated in Veryan Green, close to the famous thatched round houses, in a sheltered valley surrounded by lush trees and gardens only half a mile from the village centre.
Entered through a pretty walled and gated small garden, the front door opens to a delightfully furnished, warm and cosy beamed sitting/dining room with a neat galley kitchen leading off it. A compact shower room W.C. with hand basin completes the ground floor accommodation.
From the living room an open plan staircase leads to a lovely cottage style bedroom with twin beds. There are restful views over rolling pasture land from an enclosed sun trap patio garden, and there is unrestricted parking on the road outside.
Veryan has a good pub offering food and a small shop/post office, Nare Head to the south is a fine place for walking with Gull Rock just offshore a notable seabird colony. The south facing beaches of Carne and Pendower are just over a mile.
