The studio cottages are a mirror image of each other with Gwel an Lagen being the property on the right, to greet you on arrival. The cottage is situated 30 yards from the main house and although you are totally independent, it can be booked as part of Colan Barton if desired. Gwel an Lagen has views through a small copse, from its open patio area to Colan Church. Dating from 1250 the church has always been part of Colan Bartons landscape. Entrance into Gwel an Lagen is via a stable door into the kitchen / dining room with slate flooring and bespoke kitchen. Three steps down lead to the spacious vaulted living - sleeping area. A large comfortable sofa and a log burner on a raised hearth add a welcome homely and romantic touch. Accommodation overview: A comfortable semi detached period cottage located within the small hamlet of Barkla Shop only a 5 minute drive from the sandy beach at Trevaunance Cove. Set to one side of the main coast road between St Agnes and Perranporth on the dramatic North Cornish coastline, just 1 mile east of St Agnes and 3 miles from the popular holiday resort of Perranporth.
This recently extended early 19th century double glazed cottage retains much of the original style and romance of those times along with the modern amenities of present day. Entered from the open gravel driveway where there is parking for 2 cars, five steps lead up through a little hedged and gated garden to the front door which opens directly into a spacious living room with a low beamed ceiling, some exposed stonework and comfortable lounge seating.
To one side of the lounge, two shallow steps lead down to a newly fitted kitchen/breakfast room with dining table and chairs and a half glazed door opens to the garden and parking area which can be seen from the kitchen windows. In one corner of the lounge, carpeted stairs wind up to the first floor landing where there are three attractive bedrooms and a family bathroom W.C. with wash basin and bath with hand shower attachment.
The master bedroom has a 5ft double bed with countryside views from dual aspect windows and an en-suite shower room W.C. with hand basin, there is a twin bedded room and the third smaller bedroom has a single bed set beneath a sloping ceiling with restricted headroom. There are wall mounted thermostatically controlled electric radiators in every room.
There is a small lawned area to the side of the property overlooking the neighbouring fields - children and pets must be supervised at all times as the garden is not enclosed, and there is a garden shed with recycling facilities. The nearby village of Mithian, half a mile, has a traditional 16th century pub and there is a good selection of local shops, pubs and restaurants in the picturesque village of St Agnes 1 mile away.
Trevaunance Cove is the nearest sandy beach popular with surfers which is 1.5 miles by road or can be reached by footpath across fields, the NT beach of Chapel Porth is 2.5 miles and there is a wide range of activities and a three mile stretch of golden sand in Perranporth a 10 minute drive. There are dramatic coastal walks nearby and this is an ideal central location for touring the rest of Cornwall.

Accommodation overview: A beautiful renovated 18th Century detached cottage with some sea views, just yards from the beach of this peaceful and unspoilt fishing village, set on the sheltered east coast of the scenic Lizard Peninsula facing out over Falmouth Bay.
Entered directly from the road, a covered entrance porch leads into a delightful open plan beamed living room which extends the full width of the cottage, with a stone inglenook fireplace with original bread oven and timber lintel, quarry tiled flooring, double glazed throughout and comfortably furnished to a high standard. At one end of the room is a smart range of Shaker style fitted kitchen units.
The remainder of the ground floor consists of a small bedroom with sturdy 3ft bunk beds more suitable for preteens and two steps up at the rear leads to a bathroom W.C. with underfloor heating, hand basin and shower over the bath and a utility area with an external door to the small service yard.
An open tread pine staircase leads up from the sitting room to the first floor landing and to two bedrooms, a double bedroom overlooking the quiet village and a twin with sea views and an en suite shower room W.C. and wash basin. There are electric convector heaters in all bedrooms. To the side of the cottage is a parking area which leads down to the attractive shingle beach and a 300 year old pub and restaurant.
The cove is a fine base for boating and fishing activities, the south west coastal path is nearby and the bustling village of St Keverne is just over 2 miles away. The lovely village and harbour of Coverack is 4 miles.
