Accommodation overview: One The Foundry, Visit Britain Four Stars, is an extremely high quality Forest of Dean holiday cottage. The cottage, which has a history dating back over 200 years, has been carefully and completely renovated by the owners creating a stunning holiday home set in a quiet corner of this truly magical part of England. Internally careful thought has been given to all details ensuring that guests have everything they could possibly want to make their stay a thoroughly enjoyable one. The rooms are spacious and are presented in a contemporary and refreshing fashion make the home thoroughly welcoming for all ages and absolutely ideal for families or groups looking to enjoy a unique holiday. Externally there is the absolutely unique location of overlooking the local steam railway which has the odd steam engine trundling up and down each week (Don't worry this is NOT used for anything else!!). Otherwise there are countless places to visit all nearby including a couple of pubs literally around the corner. The Granary incorporates an original stone barn and offers peaceful seclusion in a very rural position at the end of a half mile private road. Guests will enjoy spacious, comfortable and generously sized accommodation with sunny south west facing views across farmland and privately owned woodland.
With a network of footpaths nearby there is plenty of walking and the lack of light pollution means wonderful star gazing at night. It is in an area with lots of native wildlife: badgers, foxes, deer, ravens, sparrow hawks, owls (including barn owls), woodpeckers, nuthatches and lots of garden birds. This is a unique corner of West Gloucestershire, famous for native wild daffodils in spring.
The large enclosed fenced and private garden with cherry trees is safe for dogs. The Granary is adjoining the owners' home.
There is a large privately owned lake nearby (100 yards from The Granary) and guests are welcome to use it (at their own risk) for freshwater swimming and fishing. Well stocked with Tench, Bream, Perch, Rudd and even Bleak, this is an area full of native wildlife such as frogs, newts, toads and dragonflies – with an occasional chance to glimpse a kingfisher.
London is approximately a three hour drive. Local train stations are Ledbury and Gloucester.

Hope Cottage is traditional semi-detached Cotswold stone property in the picturesque village of Naunton. The village is situated alongside the River Windrush in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage has been refurbished to modern standards, but retains character features including exposed wooden beams, a wood burning fire, inglenook fireplace and window seats. Scenic walks along the Warden’s Way can be joined a few metres from the door. The village boasts a 15th century church and medieval dovecote. The Black Horse, a traditional country pub (known locally for its good food) is less than 100 yards from the cottage.
Places to visit nearby include Bourton-on-the-Water and its shops, pubs and attractions (4 miles); the lovely town of Stow-on-the-Wold, with its quality shopping and restaurants (5.5 miles); Sudeley Castle (7 miles); Sezincote Gardens (10 miles); Batsford Arboretum and Cotswold Falconry Centre (10 miles); Longborough's popular opera festival in June/July (11 miles). Naunton Downs Golf Club is approx 2 miles from the cottage.
