Accommodation overview: Perfectly positioned in a quiet setting on the edge of Bodmin Moor, this traditional stone detached barn conversion sits within a peaceful rural valley and is perfectly situated for those who wish to get away from it all.  Accessed via a long driveway, the property is set to one side of the owners stone farmhouse and within an area of outstanding natural beauty which offers an ideal rural retreat. 

With parking adjacent to the property, a stone footpath leads the front door which opens into a warm and cosy dining room, with a large a wood burning stove that warms the whole house. To one side of the dining room an open archway leads into the well equipped kitchen and to the other side of the dining room an archway leads into a spacious living room with comfortable lounge seating, large flat screen television, character vaulted ceiling and panoramic windows providing views across the garden and valley beyond.

A door leads from the sitting room into a sun room, which houses a wonderful sauna as well as the equipment that’s required for the garden and swimming pool. A perfect place to leave coats, flip flops or wellies. On one side a doorway leads into a downstairs separate shower room with steam shower, WC and basin. The French windows from the sun room lead directly onto the patio, with large swimming pool heated via solar panels. The patio also leads round to a large private hot tub, garden chairs and loungers.

A small gate from the patio leads into a garden where fish like to swim in the character ponds with rockery and plants. A large wooden table and chairs, parasol and BBQ sit alongside the ponds and are available to share with the owners next door.

To access the bedrooms, an inner hallway leads from the kitchen and provides a carpeted staircase which leads to the first floor with three separate bedrooms. Two double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom with miniature hip-bath, shower over, WC and basin. One twin bedroom with additional single captain’s bed with pull out bed beneath.

Locally there are many excellent walks, fishing, golf and pony trekking available, and a network of graded cycle trails through the ancient Cardinham Woods close by, as featured on BBC Countryfile. The old county town of Bodmin with a selection of shops, pubs, leisure centre, golf club and Steam Railway is about a 20 minute drive as is Lanhydrock House and Gardens. The village of Blisland, 5 miles, has a local store/P.O. and traditional pub facing the village.

The beautiful beaches and fishing villages of the north and south coasts are within a 40 minute drive and there are many glorious gardens and visitor attractions such as the Eden Project within easy reach. Water sports and fishing are available at Siblyback Lake nearby.  A real bonus for this peaceful rural location is the easy road access to both A roads providing an ideal base for exploring the whole of the county.

The Glebe Barn is tucked away in a very quiet location adjacent to the owner's 300 year old property, the former rectory. As you approach Colan Church via country lanes with traditional high hedgerows, you know that peace and tranquillity will be surrounding your visit. This recently converted barn has been tastefully and stylishly re-fitted to a very modern specification. Although staying true to its roots as a 400 year old farm building, its delightful transformation enjoys a unique use of the internal space. If you are looking for a completely secluded, romantic hide-away, which is only a 10 minute drive from the stunningly beautiful Cornish coastline at Porth, then this is the cottage for you. There are many other famous attractions to easily visit from Colan, including the Eden Project, maritime Falmouth, or city shopping in Truro. Entry to the barn is via the front garden patio area and huge floor to ceiling glass doors, into the spacious kitchen and dining area. Year round comfort is ensured with under-floor heating throughout the cottage. The minimalist free standing kitchen units sit to one side, allowing uninterrupted garden views from the dining area.
