Accommodation overview: Nestling on the banks of the River Exe, this unique, single-storey, detached, timber house has been built to a very high standard and transformed into an immaculate holiday home by the owners. Set within 11/2 acres of grassland, and not far from the road, it has its own private entrance which really makes this a place of tranquillity and a fantastic isolated location, and the owners make guests welcome with wine, flowers, eggs and cake on arrival.
Valley Lodge is situated close to Exmoor National Park. The stunning valley views are magnificent, pheasants and other birds are plentiful, and dramatic country walks can be enjoyed. Minehead with its sandy beaches, and Dunster with its quaint village and spectacular castle, are just 20 minutes away. The Grand Western Canal and Bickleigh Castle are close by. The cathedral city of Exeter for shops, restaurants, theatre and racecourse, is approximately 20 miles. Walkers and cyclists will enjoy the Tarka Trail which stretches from Dartmoor to Exmoor. Further afield there are numerous beaches that are wonderful for surfers and sunbathers alike. For those wanting a more cultural experience, the area has an abundance of National Trust properties such as Knightshayes Court and Killerton as well as other places of interest such as Tiverton Castle, Bickleigh Mill and Tiverton Canal. Local villages and sites include Dunkery Beacon, Porlock, Landacre, Dulverton and Wimbleball Lake. Exmoor is a wonderful place to visit, where sheep roam wild, buzzards soar in the sky and glimpses can be seen of red deer. The point where Exmoor meets the sea is especially stunning and the coast road from Minehead to Lynton is worth a trip.
