An ideal base for families of all ages or a group of friends to enjoy a holiday in this beautiful part of the county. Appledore is a picturesque village steeped in maritime history with colourful narrow streets shops several pubs and restaurants. The annual Appledore Book Festival is always a popular event and attracts many famous authors. The quay side is perfect for sitting with a locally made Hockings ice cream and watching the world go by or catch the seasonal ferry to Instow. Westward Ho! is nearby with its long sandy beach and the Royal Devon Golf Course. The Atlantic Highway provides easy access to North Cornwall and Exmoor so there is plenty of scope for exploration and diverse days out. The farmhouse is found down a private drive in the hub of an organic working farm and retains many of its original features with stonework and wooden beams. The local village of Iddesleigh is 2 miles away and offers the award winning pub The Duke of York where Michael Morpurgo the author of the acclaimed film War Horse was first inspired to write the book sitting in front of the fire chatting with the First World War veteran and local man Wilfred Ellis. If you have time to venture further afield there are many local attractions within a short drive including Dartmoor and Exmoor with Lynton and Lynmouth to the north Exmouth and Sidmouth to the south and lovely beaches of Bude and Widemouth to the west. The Big Sheep The Milky Way RHS Rosemoor Gardens coarse fishing at Stafford Moor and Dartington Crystal are also a short drive.
