Accommodation overview: Cosy little cottage in the centre of the village. Presented in a traditional style. The coastal village of Stiffkey is set in An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and has one of the richest salt marshes for wildlife in the country, providing excellent opportunities for both ornithology and walking. The sandy beaches at Holkham and Wells are just four miles along the coast and sailing is available at nearby Morston and Blakeney. Stiffkey has a shop and a pub which serves food, with further amenities available in the lovely Georgian town of Holt, which is seven miles away. Shrimp Cottage is a cosy little cottage, situated close to the main coast road and within walking distance of the village pub and post office. It provides comfortable accommodation presented in a traditional style. Accommodation overview: A delightful recently renovated traditional Suffolk cottage with lovely views over surrounding countryside. An ideal location for touring the heritage coast Blythburgh is a pretty, unspoilt village located three miles from Walberswick and just over four miles from Southwold. It is a small, quiet village with an historic public house serving good food, fine views of the estuary and the famous 13th Century church known as the Cathedral of the Marshes. There is also a village shop and post office. Athel Cottage is a master of disguise! Providing a feeling of isolation and 'getting away from it all, it still manages to be on the doorstep of so many things too. Relax and unwind or take advantage of the surrounding walks, pubs, shops or beaches. Originally an agricultural cottage built in 1904, Athels Cottage is perfectly located at the bottom of a quiet lane just down from the Holy Trinity Church in Blythburgh. Accommodation overview: Traditional barn in a unique location overlooking the tidal Alde Estuary. Iken is a reputed base of Boudicca and the marauding Iceni tribes who made good use of the commanding position on the south side of the Alde Estuary. Later, in 869AD, a Viking sailing fleet destroyed the 7th Century monastery at Iken. In the 19th Century sailing barges used the river to trade corn and coal between Snape, London and the east coast ports. Now, you will see the occasional pleasure boat whilst taking in the highly regarded SSSI wildlife habitat and the stunning estuary scenery. Views span from the 7th Century St Butolphs Church, standing on a promontory of higher ground, to the former maltings at Snape which are now vibrant with the sounds of the famous concert hall. Bay View Barn is the ground floor (First Floor Estuary Barn (sleeps 4) ) of this traditional brick and tile barn, which no longer contains the Suffolk Punch horses that worked the surrounding farmland. The barn has been totally rebuilt retaining the many exciting original features, including the impressive floor beams in the ceiling of the property. The barn has been arranged to provide exceptionally spacious and well-equipped ground floor accommodation with all the main rooms overlooking the stunning estuary. The village is well placed for ornithologists being halfway between the excellent reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham.
