Alternatively enjoy a cliff-top stroll along the coast to Cromer which has a pier with entertainment promenade gardens and golf course. Accommodation overview: A former ale house, this one double bedroom property was originally built around 1470. Feather Cottage is furnished to a simple style that assists an authentic feel but all the modern conveniences are in place. Peasenhall lies along a valley running east to west and Peasenhall's main street (the A1120) runs alongside the 'Causeway' - a brook, which is now a culvert with bridges across it. On either side are pretty cottages, some in traditional Suffolk pink, some thatched, others slated or roofed with pantiles. The nearest pub is only a 20 minute walk away to The White Horse in Sibton. Peasenhall has a village stores, a renowned delicatessen, a family butchers and cafe. It's an ideal location from which to explore Suffolk's country footpaths and country lanes as well as exploring the pretty villages and market towns along the Suffolk Heritage Coast which is a short fifteen minutes away. Varieties of footpaths lead from the village out over open fields and are ideal for walking or cycling. Quieter in high season than the coast itself but close to Aldeburgh, Walberswick and Southwold is Feather Cottage. East and West Rudham villages flow into each other and are situated in a very pretty area of West Norfolk. East Rudham has a lovely village green with a "gastro" pub and one of the most visited shops in Norfolk. Stately homes abound with Houghton Hall and Holkham in the area. The market town of Fakenham has an excellent market on a Thursday and a visit to the auction rooms on the same day, can be very educational! Clock Cottage is a pretty, comfortably furnished, traditional brick and flint end-of-terrace cottage in the charming north Norfolk village of East Rudham, in a quiet road.
Built around 1815, the cottage was once the home of Mr Higgins, a local clock maker in the mid-Victorian period. The clock on the outside of the cottage dates back to this time.
The village boasts a good butchers, a small shop selling newspapers and bread as well as a lovely gift shop and tea room serving yummy cakes, one of the most visited shops in Norfolk. The excellent "gastro" pub called The Crown is owned by celebrity chef Chris Coubrough. The village tennis court, a playing field and bowling club are nearby. For keen walkers the area is ideal for enjoying the coastal paths. Sculthorpe nature reserve with excellent birdwatching is 5 minutes away and there is also excellent birdwatching at both Titchwell and Holme nature reserves.
East Rudham is located between Kings Lynn and Fakenham and is well placed for those wishing to explore the pretty market towns of Burnham Market, Holt and King's Lynn as well as the North Norfolk coastline - the sandy beaches of Wells, Hunstanton and Holme are a short distance by car. The market town of Fakenham is a 10 minute drive with its good selection of shops, eateries and pubs. Fakenham has an excellent market on a Thursday and a visit to the auction rooms on the same day can be very educational. Stately homes abound with the deer parks of Houghton Hall and Holkham Hall, whilst Sandringham Estate is within easy reach.
