The traditional seaside resort of Hunstanton lies 16 miles away and offers a wonderful sandy beach, Sea Life Centre and pier (seasonal) with fun fair. The Royal Sandringham Estate and Museum, Holkham and Houghton Hall and Gardens, the priory and castle ruins of Castle Acre and Walsingham Abbey all offer a lovely day out. A theatre, shops, inns and cafes can be found at Kings Lynn and the beautiful city of Norwich is within an hour’s drive. A visit to the region’s most popular attraction, The Norfolk Broads is not to be missed and visitors can either hire a boat to discover the delights of the waterways, or organised boat trips can be taken. The Broads are a paradise for nature lovers and are the most important wetlands in Europe, alive with ducks, geese and swans, as well as a host of other birdlife including spoonbills and herons. The most obvious and popular choice of exploring this stunning area is by boat, but an alternative is to cycle the many paths, the most famous being Weaver Way – a 56 mile long path which winds through the Broads on its way to Cromer and Great Yarmouth. For those who enjoy golf, the nearest course can be found at Sprowston (6 miles), or the Norwich and Cromer Golf Course is easily accessible. For day trips visitors are spoilt for choice with Norwich only 8 miles distant, famous for its cathedral, castle and museums as well as many bars and restaurants.
