Accommodation overview: Interesting conversion of a small Norfolk barn. One of four cottages which together sleep 18. Shared swimming pool. Once an important place of pilgrimage, the ruins of Bromholm Priory are still to be seen in Bacton today. The Priory was built in 1113 AD by William de Glanville and was home to the Cluniacs, the Black Monks who purchased a piece of the True Cross, the Bromholm Roode. Ensuing miracles ensured visits by many thousands of pilgrims including King Henry III. The Priory was mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the Domesday Book, and was the subject of a prediction in Mother Shipton's Almanac. Today the coastal village opens its doors to the 21st century pilgrims who visit for their holidays. They enjoy the friendly village atmosphere and the sandy beaches, which are often quiet even in the height of summer. There is a good range of local amenities including pubs, shops, a children's playground and a bowling green. These four beautifully refurbished cottages are set in the extensive mature and secure gardens and grounds of the 16th century Grade II listed Pilgrims House, which was once the farmhouse of Bromholm Priory. Swimming Pool: At the centre of the complex the 16th Century Grade II listed, thatched barn houses a large 13 x 6 metre heated indoor swimming pool and has exposed beams and stained glass windows, with sauna, shower and wc The pool, with an average year round temperature of 30c, is available for all guests and it may be used between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. There is no lifeguard, so an adult must supervise children at all times and nobody can use the pool area on their own. Exercise Room & Laundry:On the first floor of the gig house/wood store is an exercise room with exercise bike, weights, air hockey and a pool table. The laundry area has a washing machine and tumble dryer for guests to use free of charge. There are also irons and ironing boards. Accommodation overview: One of four very well appointed cottages offering sympathetically restored accommodation with use of a large recreation barn. Happisburgh (pronounced Haisbro) is a seaside village on the North East Coast of Norfolk, famous for its red and white lighthouse. It offers visitors a quiet, rural location, sandy beaches and cliff-top walks. The village has a post office/store and a traditional coaching inn and is within a 15-minute drive of the market towns of North Walsham and Stalham with easy access to the Norfolk Broads and many other tourist attractions. In past years, Church Farm has been a favoured holiday location for famous artists such as Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson and Ivon Hitchens, keen to relax in a rural idyll. The large grain barn and stables have been sympathetically converted to retain character and create four beautiful cottages, which all have exposed flint walls and old beams. There is a large recreation barn (9am-8pm) offering a racket sports area, a pool table, table tennis table and a comfortable seating area with books and games. Each cottage has its own door allowing access directly into the recreation barn. Shop/Pub: 0.25 miles  Typically suitable for a person with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of steps but would benefit from fixtures and fittings to aid balance.
The beamed door opening in Nicholson Cottage where empty grain wagons left the main barn makes an interesting feature in the open-plan living area. Exposed flint walls, beams and artwork by the painter Ben Nicholson give added character to each room. The cottage is on one level and has an enclosed patio and garden area with gas barbecue, rotary dryer and outside furniture. Thornage and Little Thornage are neighbouring villages located in the Glaven Valley, one of the most attractive areas of rural North Norfolk. The area is ideal for walking and cycling and just a ten-minute drive from the coastal villages of Blakeney and Cley. Cley Marshes is recognised as one of the UK's premier bird-watching sites. The Georgian town of Holt is just two miles away and offers good quality shops, art galleries and eating places and Holt Country Park, where you can enjoy way marked walks and nature trails. Accommodation overview: The beach is just minutes away, as is the town centre. Kittiwake could not be more central and the accommodation is ideal for a family or a couple. This is an excellent location for a traditional seaside holiday. The charming seaside town of Sheringham is an excellent location for a holiday in beautiful North Norfolk. The award-winning beach is of flint pebbles when the tide is high, giving way to a large expanse of smooth sand as the tide recedes. Cliffs rise on either side of the town, which has a backdrop of wooded hills, including those in the wonderful Sheringham Park.
