North Tuddenham is a small village set in the heart of rural Norfolk. It is a peaceful location and makes a perfect base from which to tour the county. The Cathedral city of Norwich is only fourteen miles away, the shopping is excellent, restaurants are numerous and there is a great cafe and bistro's atmosphere. The beaches of North Norfolk and the East coast are all within an easy drive, while the market town of Dereham is three miles away where you will find a good range of shops, cinema, swimming pool and ten-pin bowling. Pound End is attached to the owner's farmhouse, situated in a quiet and rural location yet only three miles from the market town of Dereham which has some very good family attractions and a local market twice a week This is a working farm, the family makes one of Norfolk's famous brands of ice cream using the produce from their Holstein dairy herd. The property offers spacious and well equipped accommodation and is ideal for families or couples who like walking and cycling activities. The owner's swimming pool is available to guests during the months of May-September and guests enjoy exclusive use during the day. Once an important place of pilgrimage, the ruins of Bromholm Priory are still to be seen in Bacton today. The Priory was built in 1113 AD by William de Glanville and was home to the Cluniacs, the Black Monks who purchased a piece of the True Cross, the Bromholm Roode. Ensuing miracles ensured visits by many thousands of pilgrims including King Henry III. The Priory was mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the Domesday Book, and was the subject of a prediction in Mother Shipton's Almanac. Today the coastal village opens its doors to the 21st century pilgrims who visit for their holidays. They enjoy the friendly village atmosphere and the sandy beaches, which are often quiet even in the height of summer. There is a good range of local amenities including pubs, shops, a children's playground and a bowling green. These four beautifully refurbished cottages are set in the extensive mature and secure gardens and grounds of the 16th century Grade II listed Pilgrims House, which was once the farmhouse of Bromholm Priory. The picturesque Georgian towns of Holt and Burnham Market offer good eateries and eclectic shops, whilst Wells, Holkham, Sheringham and Cromer offer fantastic beaches, with riding and golf close by too.
Nearby are several magnificent NT properties, including Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Hall (1.5 miles). Wolterton and Mannington Halls are close by offering walks and tea shops, whilst the acclaimed East Ruston Vicarage Gardens are a short drive away. The Broads and Cley, with renowned bird sanctuaries, are both within easy reach by car.
