It is perfect for exploring the picturesque little villages that line the coast, and the lovely sandy beaches at Brancaster and Holme next the Sea, being only around five miles away. The village is well placed for ornithologists being halfway between the excellent reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham. For those looking for a more lively pace of life, Hunstanton is also only five miles and there are many other attractions close by well worth a visit. The Lawns - a large, late Edwardian/early Victorian double-fronted town house, situated within walking distance of the award winning Blue Flag beach at Sheringham.
Mentioned in the Domesday Book in 1086, the fishing town of Sheringham has an assortment of restaurants, shops and a twice-weekly market, all just a few minutes walk away. There is also a theatre hosting a variety of events.
Sheringham is the home of North Norfolk Railway, the Poppy Line, which offers steam train trips to the market town of Holt, as well as Weybourne and Kelling Heath Park. There is a Gala Day, held at the end of August, which features a range of locomotives.
Much of the North Norfolk coast has been designated as Area(s) of Outstanding Natural Beauty - guests can explore the area's many country walks and beautiful beaches. This is an area famous for birdwatching, especially in the winter months.
The market town of Holt is a short drive away and offers an array of individual shops, cafes and restaurants.

Once an important place of pilgrimage, the ruins of Bromholme Priory are still to be seen in Bacton today. The Priory was built in 1113 AD by William de Glanville and was home to the Cluniacs, the Black Monks who purchased a piece of the True Cross, the Bromholme Roode. Ensuing miracles ensured visits by many thousands of pilgrims including King Henry III. The priory was mentioned in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the Domesday Book, and was the subject of a prediction in Mother Shiptons Almanac. Today the coastal village opens its doors to the 21st century pilgrims who visit for their holidays. They enjoy the friendly village atmosphere and the sandy beaches, which are often quiet even in the height of summer. There is a good range of local amenities including pubs, shops, a children's playground and a bowling green.
