Visit nearby Lowestoft for golden sandy beaches seafront promenade or evening entertainment at The Marina Theatre. The more traditional seaside resort of Southwold is a 20 minute drive and is steeped in maritime history with impressive lighthouse harbour walks along the banks of the River Blyth not forgetting to sample an excellent fresh caught fish & chips supper or a local ale brewed at the famous Adnams brewery. It is part of The Wensum Valley, named after the river, which flows through the picturesque countryside and provides excellent fishing opportunities. Horse riding and a country club with indoor bowls are available in the village, which also has a shop and a pub. The area is great for both cycling and walking, with a network of country lanes, and Sparham Pools Nature Reserve is close by and provides excellent walks and bird watching. The fine city of Norwich is just thirteen miles away and there are many attractions in the area to suit all ages. The Orchard and The Stables (property 865) are character single-storey barn conversions, which are situated in the peaceful hamlet of Primrose Green, surrounded by farmland, one mile from Lyng. It is an ideal location for nature lovers, being the home of Upton Broads and Marshes, and located on the edge of the wildlife trust where there are lovely waterside walks and fishing. Boat hire is available at nearby South Walsham, as well as at Wroxham and Potter Heigham. The village is ten miles between historic Norwich and the bustling seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, which offers a lovely sandy beach as well as a traditional seaside atmosphere. There are many other opportunities for days out close by, offering something for all ages. The village has a pub with further facilities available in Acle, two miles away. Watts Cottage was built over 150 years ago and is a characterful property containing many original features whilst retaining modern facilities. It has a wonderful wide beach backed by a small promenade and a good range of shops, pubs and restaurants.
