Accommodation overview: Lime Tree (ETC 3 Stars) is a well apportioned studio apartment (upstairs from Cider Press), attached to the Mill at Burford. The Mill Stream runs beneath the courtyard and the apartment has a small balcony overlooking a wonderful view of the stream and the surrounding woodland. It is a very peaceful location yet only 5 minutes from Burford town centre, with its shops, pubs and restaurants. From the apartment there is a delightful 3 mile walk along the edge of the River Windrush to the neighbouring village of Swinbrook. Accommodation overview: The Haven is a super single storey holiday cottage which has undergone renovation to create a welcoming property suitable for families wishing to enjoy a relaxing break. Originally part of a 14th Century farm, the cottage, which is semi detached, is light and spacious with far reaching views across the Cotswold countryside. Set within the conservation village of Shipton under Wychwood, there are great walks and country pubs, such as The Lamb close by. The property retains original beams and stone walls, and now has beech floors throughout along with mod cons such as a power shower, dishwasher and TV. Originally this building is where military bands used to practice (approx 100 years ago!) but today it is a lovely home with many period and contemporary touches such as underfloor heating. Surrounded by fields this attractive holiday cottage is a good choice for people who are interested in sampling traditional Cotswold countryside... Internally the cottage, formerly a barn, has been converted to create a very comfortable two bedroom self catering home, packed with period features including oak beams and mullion windows, yet with many modern conveniences. The two large bedrooms also enjoy private Ensuite bathrooms. Externally, it enjoys great views across the open countryside as well as a large garden. This homely cottage is ideal for those who plan to either sit and relax (and do nothing!) other than the odd stroll to the village pub or use it as a base for touring the Cotswolds region. There are endless walks literally from your cottage door in all directions with many other traditional villages (and pubs!) to explore. Nearby is Stow on the Wold (approx 4 miles) a popular Cotswolds market town with many antique shops, restaurants and cafes as well as other amenities to choose from. Cheltenham is very near by also. Slightly further afield are many other Cotswolds hotspots including Burford, Bourton on the Water, Woodstock and Cirencester along with many attractions. Of particular interest is the Cotswold Farm Park which is very close by.

The cottage has been converted to provide spacious self catering accommodation with many period features retained including large beams, exposed Cotswold stone walls and a woodburning stove (logs supplied) which collectively give it a very cosy and warm feel. Externally the holiday cottage, which is next to the owner's farmhouse, sits overlooking a large and private garden with views across rolling Cherwell valley countryside. Local InformationSomerton is delightful village steeped in history dating back hundreds of years with mentions in the Domesday Book and also links to William The Conqueror after the Battle of Hastings. The church in particular (a Grade One listed building) is relatively famous in local circles for its historical significance. Somerton is no more than 15 mins outside Woodstock, the very popular Oxfordshire market town and just 15 miles from the centre of Oxford. The village also enjoys superb travel links with Bicester train station (to London Marylebone) 10 mins drive away or Junction 10 of the M40 no more than 3 miles away. The village sits on the northern side of the Oxfordshire Cotswolds with the River Cherwell and Oxford Canal both meandering through the edge of the village and just moments from this holiday cottage. The meadows at the river are absolutely perfect for evening 'sun-downers'. There are many walks to choose from, right from your door. The very famous and very popular Bicester Shopping Outlet Centre (or Bicester Village as it is called) is 10 mins away if shopping is your thing. There are a variety of good pubs in the locality, but none in the village. Of particular note is The Falkland Arms in Great Tew, one of the prettiest spots imaginable.
